Doula UK welcomes members from the Doula community and has the following 3 categories of membership:

  1.     Recognised Doula
  2.     Mentored Doula
  3.     Friend of Doula UK

1 - A  Recognised Doula

Has completed a Doula UK approved course/s

Has read and signed to say that they agree with Doula UK's Philosophy, Code of Conduct and other Policies/Procedures

Has undergone Doula UK's Recognition process with a Doula Mentor, and has been "recognised" as having attained a particular level of learned skills and experience.

Lives and works in the UK. 

Membership fee is £45.

2 - A Mentored Doula

Has completed a Doula UK approved course/s

Has read and signed to say that they agree with Doula UK's Philosophy, Code of Conduct and other Policies/Procedures

Is willing to start Doula UK's mentoring process in order to become a Recognised Doula.

Lives and works in the UK.

The doula will only be able to advertise on the Doula UK Find A Doula pages once she has a Doula Mentor.  She will be able to advertise herself as a Doula UK Mentored Doula, offering doula services at a reduced fee (to be discussed and agreed with her mentor) until she has fulfilled the necessary criteria for recognition. Upon successful completion of the mentoring process, the doula will be able to advertise herself as a Doula UK Recognised Doula enjoying the full support of the network.

Fees for Mentorship are in addition to the usual membership fee of £45. Each birth or postnatal report submitted will cost £20, with a final £20 for the Recognition interview. 

3 - A Friend of Doula UK

Doulas living abroad or,
Is not working as a doula, but who is interested in and wants to support our network, or
Is planning to undertake a doula training in the future
Friends membership costs £25.  Friends receive regular newsletter and e-news, but do not have access to the Forum.
