About me: 

I'm a mum of 3 fantstic children. born 1999, 2004 and 2005. I have lived in Stevenage since 2000. I am passionate about families and birth and I am always increasing my knowledge surrounding pregnancy, birth, postnatal and families.

My Philosophy: 

I decided to become a doula because I felt that I had not had the opportunity to enjoy my pregnancies and births, I was working with disabled clients who said exactly the same thing, so I started looking into types of support available and discovered Doulas. - My heart leapt - it was what I had been looking for.

I work as a birth and post natal doula - and feel privillaged when families decide that they would like me to support them in this special time of their lives. For details of my services and costs please look at my website.

I trained with Bushra Finch from Nurturing Birth in the summer of 2007 and I am constantly looking for more studying opportunities as family and clients allow.

I have worked with disabled parents for over 14 years, assisting them to find parenting strategies that they could use, I have also trained midwives and other medical staff in parenting strategies for disabled parents. I have a full CRB check due to being a school govenor and teaching babysign.

I am studying aromatherapy and massage. I am also training to be an EFT practitioner specialising in birth related trauma.

What's the difference between a recognised and a mentored doula?

Mentored doulas

A Mentored Doula has completed a Doula UK approved Preparation Course and is involved in Doula UK's Recognition Process. This means that she has a Mentor providing support and supervision within a framework for reflective practice until she has gained sufficient experience to become a Recognised Doula. A Mentored Doula's fees reflect her previous and current experience, her expenses and the going rate in her area.

Recognised doulas

A Recognised Doula has been evaluated by a Doula UK Doula Mentor at the end of the Recognition Process, as having sufficient experience to practise without on-going mentoring. Doula UK nevertheless continues to provide support for all its members.
