I am passionate about supporting parents-to-be as they navigate their journey through pregnancy, birth and early parenthood, in whatever way works best for them. I provide up-to-date, evidence-based information together with empathetic, non-judgemental support tailored to my clients’ needs, preferences and wishes.

Pregnancy is a time of huge emotions. You may be feeling excited to meet your new baby but also nervous about your pregnancy, birth or how you will cope with life as parents of a newborn. You may need some support to navigate maternity care services, to advocate for yourself with your healthcare providers or simply some idea of what to expect and how to prepare for it.

You’ll be hoping for a positive birth and postnatal experience but you may also have lots of questions that just need clear, factual answers which provide you with the information you need to make the decisions that are right for you.

As your birth doula, my job is to help you to feel fully prepared and ready for the birth of your baby, to support you during your labour and birth, and to offer you guidance and support in the postnatal period.

Whatever type of birth you are planning, I will offer you non-judgemental support and provide all the information you need to feel empowered to make decisions that feel right for you and your baby. I will talk to you about your options and support you to advocate for yourself. My role would never be to replace an existing birth partner, rather to work as a team and provide a reassuring presence for both of you. 

As your postnatal doula, I’ll be around for you in this transitional period, whether it’s your first baby or your fourth, supporting you to be the parent you want to be and again equipping you with the information you need to make decisions that feel right for you. You may need some support as you rest and recuperate after the birth, or some help with feeding and caring for your baby. You might need some overnight support so you can catch up on sleep. Or just a little bit of reassurance that you are doing a great job.

In many cultures around the world, women are surrounded by other women as they labour, give birth and care for their newborns. There is an expectation that they will be looked after as they care for their babies and recover from birth - that other people will be around to ‘mother the mother’. In our society that is not always the case, and some families do not have support (or the right kind of support) from family and friends - for many different reasons. This is where a doula comes in.

I offer individualised antenatal education sessions, labour and birth support, postnatal guidance and support (including night support), help with feeding or a combination of all of these. I can tailor my basic packages to suit your needs. I have experience of home and hospital birth and can support with all types of feeding.
