About Me
Hi! My name is Adele, I am 45 and I live in Rugby, Warwickshire. I am happy to cover quite a large area around where I live. I am married and am a Mum to 3 boys – 9, 15 & 18 years old. I have only recently been drawn to the role of being a Doula, but have always been interested in Pregnancy & Birth and loved all of my pregnancies but noticed how much the level of care and the advice given changed rapidly between each of my pregnancies! Just when I thought I knew what I was doing the guidance would change! All of my births were very different, and on reflection I can see that I could have have had much better birthing experiences if I was empowered beforehand to know what my body was capable of doing, if I had had the right knowledge and confidence. I believed the saying “as long as Mother & Baby were ok” I now know that this is not a very high bar to set and every birth has the potential to be an empowering & beautiful experience that sets Mother & Baby on the right path from the start. My births were 1. vaginal, 2. c-section (breech presentation and no discussion with me to attempt a vaginal delivery and no knowledge to discuss this option and 3. vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC). I am keen to help as many women have the best experience bringing their babies into the world and that can mean many different things for my role. Support for the partner, support for existing siblings, being an advocate for your requests, helping set the scene for a calm environment to give birth, helping set the environment you and the baby will be in after giving birth and all the support you feel you need or wouldn’t even know you need, but helps you to be able to enjoy getting to bond with your baby. I am a get stuck in kind of person- I will have the kettle on and a slice of bread in the toaster if I think you need it! And there is always an occasion for a slice of cake! If you have other children and they need entertaining whilst you and your partner need some quiet time- I’m great at puzzles! Or you want quiet time alone, there is always a chat I can be having with your partner to keep them calm and allow you your space. Don’t be afraid to ask me anything- if you think it needs doing and allows you to keep your mind focused on the power of your body- I will probably be happy to oblige! I have been a Childminder for the past 16 years and so have spent time getting to know lots of families and helping with their individual needs supporting them. I love to help and facilitate and sign-post people in the right direction to enable them to get the best help, advice and connect with the best services that are available for their needs or requirements. I would be honoured to help you plan for and support you to have the best birth that all woman are entitled to, whether that be at home, in a birthing centre or your local hospital. Whatever plan you have for your birth, I hope I can be the person to help that plan come into reality. I want to give children a journey into this world that is full of love & joy and a sense of hope for the life they are going to create for themselves. I would love to hear from you to chat through your plans, wishes or fears and make this period of your life have the best possible outcomes. My fees reflect that I am currently being mentored. My fee is £999 for which you will be supported with 3x Antenatal meetings Support during your birth- I will be on call from 38 weeks until birth 3x Postnatal meetings Any additional support can be negotiated if required. I trained under the Continuum Doula method that offers additional support meetings. I look forward to hearing from you. Adele xx
