About Me

I am presently a mentored doula having completed my training in April. Coming from a large family, there was always a baby in the house, and from an early age I looked after my nieces or nephews and babies belonging to family friends. I’ve always enjoyed working with people and for a while I was a student nurse. After having my children, I pursued a career in teaching and have taught in London schools for many years. I am also a qualified counsellor and I have skills from all the jobs I have done that will be beneficial to being a doula.

Having had less than positive postnatal experiences, I feel strongly that it doesn’t have to be a negative experience. The postnatal period is a special time and too often an afterthought, when what is needed is time, care and attention. This is where I can help – putting my knowledge, experience, time and training into play.
