About Me
I am a mum of five (including four step children aged 5 to 13) based in North East Scotland, and my doula journey started when I was pregnant with my now 2 year old. As well as loving all things birth, babies and beyond, I’m also well versed in the unique joys and complications of co-parenting in a modern family.
I am extremely passionate about human rights in childbirth, empowering women and birthing people to make informed choices, advocating for those choices and enabling them to have a birth experience that they are in control of. Your body means your choices and I will be there to support you and your family however you decide to birth.
My typical doula package would include at least two antenatal sessions and these might cover: debriefing your previous birth experiences, discussing natural birth physiology, possible medical interventions and pain relief options, making a detailed birth and post natal plan.
For the birth itself I will be available on call from 38 weeks until you have your baby. I will be there as soon as you want me and stay until you are settled after the birth.
In a post natal visit I might look after your baby while you have a shower or take a nap, discuss feeding options, bring you a meal, or just share a cuppa and some adult conversation!
Your doula package will be tailored to your requirements which we can discuss at our initial meeting or over the phone. I believe that every family should be able to employ a doula if they wish which is why I am working towards being registered as an Access Fund doula (further details and criteria here https://doula.org.uk/doula-access-fund). Even if you aren’t eligible for the Access Fund, please don’t let cost be a barrier. I can offer flexible pricing and payment schemes to suit your circumstances. And as I am a currently undergoing mentorship, my rates are likely to be considerably lower than those of a recognised doula.
I also love to bring new parents together and help build social connections through online groups and in person meetups. I have previously run the Positive Birth Movement in South West Fife and helped facilitated Mums Without Borders in Edinburgh. You can find my current groups at Birth Well and Bumps to Bairns. Birth Well meetings are all online just now, so please come along and ‘meet’ us virtually, wherever you may be! Bumps to Bairns is a South West Fife social group however anyone is welcome who is willing to travel to join us. Both groups are free, peer-led and totally inclusive.
Please get in touch if you would like to know more about me or just to chat and see if we click.
