Specialising in breastfeeding support. Birth and newborn photography. Library of reference books and slings to borrow.
I live in South Wales with my husband and 4 children. After the birth of my first child I received lots of amazing breastfeeding support and was inspired to train to support women myself as I knew how vital this was. This training was through Real Baby Milk. I subsequently spent time supporting in the community as well as on the delivery and postnatal wards.
I was then keen to further my training to support women with birth and the postnatal time. I completed my Doula training with Doulaversity as well as Continuum Doulas, accredited with Doula UK.
My training with Continuum Doulas advocates for continuity of care and therefore looks quite different to the traditional doula model. I offer 12 visits in total as a minimum to build a trusting relationship and fully support families during the postnatal period. This tried and tested approach gives more time to the family both during the antenatal and postnatal period. I also commit to being on call from 37 weeks until your baby is born (and do my best to attend the birth if before 37 weeks).
It is up to you how early in labour to call me and I will stay with you until you are well settled after birth.
During my antenatal meetings the aim is to develop trust, think through and put together birthing preferences, discuss feeding options and potential challenges, go through the physiology of birth and plan for the post partum period. I am very happy to support breastfeeding and bottle feeding and have personal experience with both.
I love to meet with the whole family during this time and partners can be as involved in the meetings as they wish.
During labour and birth I’m there for you to provide physical, emotional and informational support. We well have time together to discuss how this might look for you.
Postnatal visits are also guided by you and typically will involve breastfeeding support and emotional support (I provide a birth debrief for you and you partner too if they wish). I love to cook so if that is something that will be helpful to you I can provide nutritious meals for you and light housekeeping. The sessions can be planned around you partner returning to work to provide crucial support during the early days.
I am a trained photographer (BA hons at Falmouth University) and love to capture beautiful moments with your newborn. I offer birth photography and newborn photography packages alongside my doula services.
