Hayley Chepner – Doula Profile
Hey thanks for clicking on my profile!
A BIT ABOUT ME
I trained with Developing Doulas in November last year and completed their Birth and post-natal Doula programme. I completed my post course tasks in January 2022 and then I took some time reflect and consider how to go about taking my ‘first step’ in the doula world.
I am currently mentored in both birth and post-natal doula work.
I decided to become a doula way back in 2015 and lengthy research into several different courses and then stumbled across ‘Doulas’. I had no idea what a doula even was, but after further research it really resonated with me. I really understood the purpose behind it and totally related with the service it provided.
As a mother of 3. Saul born in 2007, Isla born in 2012 and Conrad born in 2015, I have had my own stories of birth, struggles, etc. But this isn’t about me, it’s about you! After my lessons as a parent so far, and especially as a birthing parent and, after my own post-natal experiences, I can truly say that I feel passionate about supporting birthing parents and their partners / families etc in birth and post-natally.
I have breastfed all 3 of my children but also plan to take an infant feeding support course too in the near future. I did bottle feed Saul and Isla too for different reasons. After thinking I had to breastfeed continually until ready to stop which of course isn’t the case at all. So whatever feeding path you I thinking of taking, I fully support whatever suits all parents and their new borns. All that matters is what’s best for mother and baby right?!
HOW I CAN SUPPORT YOU
- I want you to feel supported, empowered & in control to achieve the birth you want.
- Support your informed choices without judgement and with respect
- Provide you with individual support specifically for you and your needs / desires throughout your pregnancy / birth and beyond (whatever you require)
- My own experience is what I have to offer you, having learned along my way.
I will be there for support, a listening ear, or even just someone to have by your side. Whatever your ideas and thoughts are, I am happy to support and guide (not advise) as much or as little as you want. This is your journey and I want to do all I can to support you in making it happen the way you envisage. I couldn’t imagine taking this leap myself to become a doula if I didn’t imagine how much I would have appreciated having one myself during my births and post-natally. With hindsight, I can honestly say, with what I have learned so far about doulas, the support and encouragement they bring (and I too know I can give), I would without doubt, have transitioned into motherhood a lot more smoothly.
