About Me
I’m a mother of 4 grown up children, and grandmother of one. I really enjoyed my time with them all whilst they were little and, as a doula I want mothers to feel as I felt: happy, confident and comfortable with themselves as mothers, and with their babies. Fathers too. Being with families from the end of pregnancy onwards gives them the best start possible in enjoying parenthood and knowing what feels right for them and their babies.
As a birth doula, I’ve helped at many different births, and been a different doula at each one, but all the time trying to maintain a sense of calm and just being there for that family. I like to have plenty of time to get to know you and your family, before the birth so that we are completely comfortable with each other.
During my years of being a postnatal doula I’ve been with many different families, with many different expectations of what they would like me to do. As yet, I’ve not been asked to do anything that I feel uncomfortable with (apart from once being asked to take out a dog without a lead…..) Some mothers like to give me the baby whilst they do things, others want me to do those things. I work on the premiss that I’ll do pretty much anything that makes the family’s life easier. And that includes timings too. For families, mornings and evenings are always busy, and that’s when the support can really help.
