Hello Dear Reader,
My name is Ines Rose Edwards, I have become a mentored birth and postnatal doula after taking Kick Hansard’s Aspiring doula course. Before becoming a doula I was a nursery nurse (NVQ level 3), studied baking in Quebec (Canada) and received a bachelor’s degree from Leicester University in Psychology and French.
I have always known that I wanted to working with mothers-to-be and new mothers. Supporting parents in becoming the parents they want to be and having knowledge and confidence in every step they take is what I hope to do as a doula.
The time around childbirth and after can be a very confusing and challenging with so many different opinions and possibilities. As your doula I will be there to support, help and signpost you to the information you need.
As your birth doula we will have three antenatal meetings before your expected due date. I will then be on call for you 24/7 two weeks before and after your expected due date. I will support you and your partner during the entire birth and only leave you when you are ready. Then we will have one postnatal visit to ensure everyone is well.
As your postnatal doula I will be there to help as I can, from light house work to using my baking knowledge to make you a cake with tea.
I would be delighted and grateful to be your doula, I leave you with a poem I have loved ever since I was a child by William Blake;
I have no name
I am but two days old.
What shall I call thee?
I happy am
Joy is my name,
Sweet joy befall thee!
Sweet joy but two days old,
Sweet joy I call thee;
Thou dost smile.
I sing the while
Sweet joy befall thee.
