I’m Jennymay, and I’m here to support you in your birthing journey.
I am a recognised birth and mentored postnatal doula based in Walthamstow, East London. A passionate advocate for new parents of any and every kind, I will be there to support you every step of the way. I have massive enthusiasm and love for the birthing experience, whatever that may be for you, and it can be SO different for everybody. I have supported home and hospital births, breast and bottle feeding parents, and my biggest passions include human rights in childbirth and the strengthening of men and women’s mental health during the antenatal and postnatal periods.
I have two children of my own, and am a professional freelance violinist in my ‘other’ life. I also love photography and am very happy to take pictures for you at your birth or throughout the whole process. (I’m also a very bad but enthusiastic birdwatcher, but I’m thinking that this is probably not quite as useful.) Feel free to ask me any questions either by phone or on email; I look forward to meeting you and hopefully accompanying you on your birthing journey.
I can offer:
Email and phone support through your pregnancy and postnatal period
At least two antenatal home visits and one or more postnatal, and any hospital visits/scans/appointments where you may need extra support
Debriefing past birth experiences
Helping you write your birth preferences/plan and discover what your ideal birth might look like
Helping you navigate the maternity system and your choices in a way that makes you feel in control and in charge
Being there for your birth in whatever way you need, whether you know what that is or not yet!
Post-natally I can help with practical things like tidying, cleaning up, or holding the baby while you shower/sleep/walk, or I can just be there as a shoulder to cry on or a sounding board for any questions or anxieties.
A doula is a different thing for every person, and every person needs a different doula. If you think I might be the right one for you, give me a shout and we can have a chat about it.
Good luck on your journey!
