About Me
HI, I’m Jess, I am 34 Years old and I live in Billingshurst, West Sussex, with my 3 boys, De-Anjelo (14), Antony (11) and James (6) and my daughter Matilda-Rose (1).
I am a mentored doula, meaning that you get my services at a slightly reduced price, we both have the support of an highly experienced doula and all you have to do is fill out a short form, at the end of our time together.
I volunteered at a breastfeeding drop in, as a Peer Supporter, once a month. I found a passion for this, after finally having a successful breastfeeding journey with James. During my Peer Support training, I found I had great listening skills and a true passion to support women, in however they choose to feed their babies.
Whilst on this course, I heard the term ‘Doula’ for the first time and after asking around and doing some research, I truly felt that becoming a Doula was my vocation. I believe that birthing people have the right to continuity of care and a right to be fully informed, with evidence based information and as your Doula, I hope to be able to help you achieve that.
During the postnatal period, I hope to be able to offer a safe space for you to debrief your birth experience and for you to be able to gain confidence in your relationship, with your new baby, whilst my non-judgmental hands gently support you (metaphorically speaking!) I am happy to bake any amount of sweet treats for you, however my savoury cooking skills can leave a lot to be desired. I would absolutely love to look after older siblings and pets, whilst you do what you need to, to enjoy the bonding process. I am happy to look after your baby (taking them for walks or shopping, or simply a cuddle in a carrier), whilst you relax, snooze, eat or whatever you need to do. School runs, shopping and light housework are also tasks i am happy to undertake.
This is by no means an extensive list of services i can offer, so please don’t hesitate to contact me, to discuss your personal requirements. I am happy to offer a ‘night Doula’ service, for whatever reason you might need me. I am happy to take care of the baby overnight (feeding them, if formula/bottle fed or bringing them in to you, if breastfed.), other siblings, or to sit with you, whilst you navigate the early days, with your bundle of joy.
I have a passion for the Fourth Trimester, helping parents to understand it and navigate their way through it. This can be a very trying time, for you and your baby, so I will be on hand to offer gentle suggestions of ways to ease the transition from womb to world. I am happy to take an active role in helping you to get valuable skin to skin time, by protecting your space and keeping older siblings entertained or whatever you feel may help. I can help get you started with babywearing, if this is something you may be interested in.
I have no preferences on how you choose to feed or hold your baby, none on where they sleep, or what nappies are best, I will simply support you to find evidence based information, for whatever choices you wish to make.
If i sound like I may be the Doula for you, I can be contacted via phone (call or text) or email. I look forward to hearing from you soon xx
