Local info and availability:
I am a birth doula with nine years of experience working privately in SW London and part-time on the Birthing Centre at Chelsea & Westminster hospital. I am one of the first ever doulas employed by the NHS four years ago and I believe the vast experience I have gained in all fields of maternity care is of benefit to my private clients. I find that local births are the most wonderful as I am able to build up a real rapport with couples plus I know the local hospitals really well also being on the MSCL at St Georges hospital. Do have a look at my website - I hope to hear from you. By the way I am occasionally available for last minute births so do try me.
I believe that having a baby is a truly unique, wonderful and life changing experience which should be both cherished and a happy memory for life. To help you achieve this my aim is simple - caring, supporting and empowering you throughout the pregnancy and entire labour, providing both consistency and calmness along this wondrous journey. I wish you a beautiful and happy birth whichever doula you find and remember; the moment a baby is born, the mother is also born. As your doula I will provide you with a tailored, personalised and professional service throughout your pregnancy, labour, birth and postnatal journey. This will consist of extensive and knowledgeable guidance in a non-judgemental, relaxed and friendly manner in your home to suit your particle birth, your personal needs and to compliment any other antenatal classes you might have attended. I have experience and enjoy working with a variety of women; first pregnancies, IVF, multiple pregnancies, caesarean sections, older mums, single mums, VBAC's, water births and women who have had a previous difficult first birth. In the early stages of labour I will be with you at your home offering calmness and comfort before accompanying you to hospital (or staying at home for a home-birth). Once at the hospital support and guidance with any type of pain relief you might wish to consider including epidural. Then finally assist you to breastfeed effectively and offer flexible after care for you and your baby once home from hospital. I find pregnant women wondrous and on seeing a mum to be's tummy, I can't help smiling and thinking of the baby snoozing there. I find being a doula an amazingly privileged, rewarding and serene job. I have been told I have a relaxed attitude but an emotional awareness which enables both parents to be at ease and 'themselves' around me. To me this is very important. Do have a look at website and facebook page and feel free to contact me however small your query. Kayla 🙂
