About Me
Hi, I’m Liberty, 47 years old and mother of two amazing girls. Well, actually, one woman of 24yrs, one toddler of 2yrs and a grandma of one boy! I am a Post Natal Doula, Certified Integrative Nutrition and Wellness Coach and published wellness writer, regularly contributing to a number of leading women’s magazines.
Why I do what I do:
I became an integrative nutrition coach as I passionately believe we are all unique, that we all have our own special fingerprint and our own bio-individuality, and for that reason; one pill does not fit all the ills. With this in mind, why would all birth, babies, mothers, mothering be the same?
I had my first pregnancy at 23 in Asia, my second child was born just two weeks before my 45th birthday in the UK. So as you can imagine both pregnancies were very different! And of course, both births were different too. The first, just two hours long, the second, seven hours and vomiting most of the way through… Both 4th trimesters were literally miles apart too. One in South Africa with lots of help, the other involved moving from London to the hills of Yorkshire where I had little to no support network.
I primarily help women with unexplained fertility issues (I had my own fertility struggles in my 40s) and then, on the other side, perimenopause and menopause. It was a number of my fertility fitness ladies, once pregnant, who suggested that I become a postnatal doula. I didn’t even know there was such a thing! But, once I filled my bookshelf with all I could read on the topic, my heart knew it was a role I had to add to my services.
How could I not want to ‘fill the well’ of amazing birthing parents both on and off the plate, so their newborn could drink from it? Nutrition for me is not just goodies on the plate, but family, friends, home environment, spirituality, connection to self, exercise and much more.
Those wonderful, exhausting, hormonal, unexpected days, weeks, months that follow a baby coming into your life can often be a challenge like no other. This is where I have the honour to come to nurture the nurturer and nourish the new parent so that they are truly flourishing, not just surviving.
I live in Holmfirth, Kirklees, I am happy to do remote support via zoom and in-house support in the Manchester and West Yorkshire area.
How I support you:
Virtual Doula
Access my support wherever you are, any time, any place!
As I have learnt with my fertility coaching, virtual services can be done worldwide and can be a huge success. They are perfect for those times when you feel the need or want a session at short notice, early hours (as we often do with a baby) or late at night. So it doesn’t matter where you live as long as you have the internet, we can still work as a team.
What’s included:
– We will unpack your birthing story and work through what it meant for you.
– Check where YOU feel you are with your medical team and health care support.
- You will receive bespoke recipes that will support you and your baby to grow. Recipes you can eat with one hand of course!
- Check-in daily via voice notes (easier than attempting to text) about how you’re doing, with a non-judgmental ear.
- Suggesting communication strategies for dealing with eager new grandparents, family, friends, partner.
– Movement suggestions. Gaining strength, energy and stepping into a body in which you feel empowers you.
– Emotional support on those worries, niggles you may not feel comfortable sharing with a family member or friend: Bonding, libido, frustrations, connecting with the “New You,” newborn puzzles, Sleep hygiene for you and your baby…
- Creating a safe and healthy baby sleep environment
- Breastfeeding, pumping and bottle feeding support
- Providing you with a personal toolbox to support challenges, such as lack of sleep, confusion over a new role or identity.
- Nutritional coaching and evidence-backed by science on how to build your foundations and armour for your changes in hormones, demands and environment.
- Access to my little “Rainbow Book” of referrals – Those professionals that you may need, such as breastfeeding councillors, female physiotherapists, etc. (Signposting to specialists when things don’t feel YOUR “normal.”)
