About Me
My name is Marianne, and I’m a mentored Postnatal Doula living in Haywards Heath with my husband and seven year old daughter. I’m currently available for work in Haywards Heath on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays, although some other weekdays may be possible.
Although I’m new to the role of Postnatal Doula, I have been supporting families with newborn babies for several years, in my roles as Carrying Consultant (2012-present) and BabyCalm Consultant (2013-2017). I run Sweet Wrappers Sling Library and The Monday Drop-In, a welcoming, nurturing drop-in group for all parents and carers of little ones, where sling library service and breastfeeding support are available for those who want them. My other relevant experience includes three years as a Registered Childminder, caring for babies and toddlers. I have a wealth of experience and evidence-based information to draw on when supporting you and your family as you welcome your baby to the world, whether this is your first baby or you already have children.
The fourth trimester (the first few months after birth) eases baby from womb to world, and I can offer you support with practical ways to promote calm for you and your baby, pre-empting and reducing crying, and helping the whole family to feel a little more rested.
I can assist you with breastfeeding your baby and will find you the right specialist support if ever it is needed. If you choose to bottle feed, I can also assist you with that.
You may wish to talk about your experiences of pregnancy and birth, and I am always ready and willing to listen, without judgement.
I can also help with light housework, and other things that need doing, so that you can focus on resting and bonding with your baby. If you have other children, I’m happy to look after them in your home while you sleep or focus on baby, and I’m always ready and willing to cuddle baby while you sleep, rest or play with your other children.
As my availability is mainly weekends and Mondays, it’s possible that your partner may be around more then than during the week. As your doula, I’ll be there to support your partner too, and if you would like some time to rest or just be together, I’ll be there for you both, by taking care of baby and/or other children, or getting some chores done – whatever is most useful to you as a family.
Whether you’re still pregnant, or baby has already arrived, if you feel that I could be the right Postnatal Doula for you, I look forward to hearing from you. Most parents who hire a Postnatal Doula do so within the first six weeks after birth, but if your baby is older I am still happy to support you. Please do get in touch for a no-obligation chat at any stage. You can complete the form below, or give me a call (between 9am and 7pm please) or contact me via message on the Sweet Wrappers Facebook page if you prefer.
