My name is Rosie and I am a mum to three boys who are 14, 9 and almost 3.
I have always been passionate about women getting the support they need around the time of birth and early motherhood. After the birth of my own children I started to wonder why women were not getting the birth or postnatal period that they wanted this lead me to look into how I could support women during this precious time and led me to becoming a Doula.
Birth is something that stays with a woman for the rest of their life. It can be such an empowering and positive experience. I support all kinds of birth, be it a home birth, midwife led unit or a hospital. The one thing that is important to me as a Doula is that you have the information you need to make the right choices for you and your baby.
Having help in those early days after the birth of a baby can make such a difference. It can allow you time to bond with your baby and for you to find your feet in your new role as a mother, be this the first time as a new mum or the fifth time as a new mum. We all need that time in the early days when someone is there to help us and to hold our hand as we navigate this new role.
I am also a breastfeeding peer supporter at the local children centre and a member of La Leche League. I really enjoy this voluntary role as I meet new mums and help them on their way to a successful breastfeeding journey.
