EDN Representative – volunteer vacancy
We are looking for one or two people to take over from Hazel Acland as the Doula UK representative with the EDN. Below you will find information about the role with EDN and you can find out more about the organisation here. You will be the link between Doula UK and the EDN. If you are interested in the role please email admin@doula.org.uk.
EDN Role
EDN welcomes organizations, associations or doula training programs as members. Individuals can
register as ‘Friends of EDN’.
For communication and sharing purposes, EDN has created a google group as well as a closed
Facebook group (EDN Facebook Circle). These two groups are open only to EDN Representatives and
Friends, upon invitation. If you are no longer representing an organization, please let us know – in
this case you will be removed from the google group and the Facebook group.
Friends of EDN have an individual membership and can take part in discussions and participate in
EDN conferences and other events. They do not represent a country or an organization. They can be
part of the google group and the Facebook group (EDN Facebook Circle).
EDN Representatives have certain responsibilities. Each doula association and doula training
program that is a member of EDN can select up to two persons to represent them. These persons
will be included in the google group and the Facebook group.
The communication language between Representatives is English, so we kindly ask you to choose
people who can communicate both in writing and in spoken English for our correspondence and in-
person meetings. We also ask you to choose people who have time to devote to this role, after
reading and understanding what is expected of them.
The official communication tool between Representatives is the google group. One of our network’s
important goals is to connect doulas all over Europe and beyond! So it is very important that
Representatives check their EDN-related emails and Facebook feed regularly and make all relevant
correspondence arriving in their mailboxes from the EDN google group and Facebook closed group
available to their local members – ideally with a short intro/summary in their local language if
needed, to make it accessible and inclusive.
Once a year, usually around our annual conference, we have an EDN internal meeting. This is
attended by the appointed one or two Representatives per member organization who are then
responsible to report back to their local members.
