Birth Doula & Postnatal Doula

I have five children. My first son was born in 2011 after IVF, my first daughter was born in 2013, my second son was born in 2016 and my identical twin girls were born in 2019. I will always treasure and look back on all of my pregnancies and labours with pride and happiness. I belive my desire to nurture and help and my ability to protect and care for others, as well as my knowledge, both personal and professional, of pregnancy, labour and life with a newborn are the reasons that I am delighted to be a doula. Giving birth to your baby is one of the most awe-inspiring, wonderful, challenging and rewarding things you will ever do but it can seem one of the most daunting of things to do too, and memories of your labour will stay with you forever. This is why having a positive and empowering birth is so very important. You, your partner and your baby are my priority. As far as I am concerned, when you are giving birth the world revolves around you. It is all about you and your baby and what you want and need to give you a positive and empowering birth experience and an easy and happy transition into parenthood with your new baby. As your birth doula, I would be your constant source of support and encouragement before, during and after the birth, working as a team with you and your partner (if you have one). I would support and help you (and your partner) with your informed choices, answer any questions and address any concerns you may have, while reassuring and encouraging you that you are more than capable of having a wonderful birth experience, the way you want it to be, be it at home, in a hospital or anywhere else. I try to ensure you are aware of all the options available and will always fully respect whatever birth route you decide is right for you. I would listen to you and support and encourage you emotionally and practically every step of the way, always without you or your partner feeling observed, judged or intruded upon. I can help with massaging, breathing, relaxing, encouraging different positions to help with an active labour. I am also there to help your partner to help you and to give them the opportunity to rest or step back if you or they feel they need to do so. I can be your advocate and help reinforce your birth preferences and what you feel is most important to you and your partner during this time. I will protect your right to privacy, respect and a safe, relaxing, calm and positive environment while helping you and your partner stay calm, in control, positive, happy, strong and motivated. I can also help with practicalities during your birth that you may want or need such as making cups of tea, a light meal to keep up you and your partner's energy levels, pick up any older children from school or take photos for you to look back on. As your post-natal doula I would help you have the time and energy to be able to enjoy and bond with your new baby with as little stress and as few concerns as possible. It is important that you are able to regain your strength and energy (this also applies to your partner) so as to be able to look after yourself and your baby. I will do my utmost to encourage, support, care and help increase your confidence in how to care for your new baby. Every baby is unique and I want to help you have the opportunity to learn to trust your instincts and know your baby. I want to help you be the mother you want to be and look after your baby the way you decide is best. I can look after your baby while you have some much needed sleep or a relaxing, peaceful soak in the bath or perhaps help you with older siblings, walking the dog(s) or help do some light housework, giving you the time to focus on your baby without worrying about other things. If you would simply prefer a chat and to show off your wonderful new baby I am more than happy to oblige! I will support you with breast or bottle feeding. Whatever helps you. I am constantly on the look-out for workshops and courses to attend and new research papers and books related to pregnancy and birth to read so as to broaden my knowledge and skills and inspire me with more ideas that I can share with you. Just as every baby is different so is every birth and every family. Thank you for taking the time to read my doulaography. Please have a look at my website for more information and details or call/email me. I would feel very honoured, privileged and delighted to help you achieve your wishes.
