By becoming a member of Doula UK you will help promote life-changing doula support for all and work alongside doulas who are committed to abiding by Doula UK’s Philosophy, Code of Conduct, Infant Feeding Guidance and other best practice guidelines

Doula UK is a non-profit community interest company, led by and for our members, with over twenty years of experience supporting hundreds of doulas all over the UK.

Our process

Every pathway to becoming a doula is unique. The below sets out the steps to becoming a doula and joining Doula UK.

1

Introductory Workshop

Book a place on an Introductory Workshop. This step is optional. Cost: £35 (free bursary places offered).

Approved Doula Training

Train to become a doula on a Doula UK Approved Training Course. Cost: from £550.

3

Complete your course

Once you have completed your Approved Doula training, or your Alternative Pathway workshop if you are already a birth professional, you will be invited to join Doula UK.

Join Doula UK

Complete your registration. Cost: £25 joining fee and £8 a month subscription.

Create profile

Create your professional listing on our Doula UK directory.

Select a mentor

Find a mentor to guide you through your first birth and postnatal experiences. They will publish your profile so you appear on our directory.

Mentoring

Begin working as a doula supported by your mentor who you will pay directly. Cost: £300 or £600.

Recognition

Your mentor awards you with your certification as a Doula UK doula.

Alternative Pathway Workshop

The Alternative Pathway to membership is available to experienced doulas, or those who have completed comprehensive doula training elsewhere and costs £200.

There is a £25 joining fee followed by monthly membership fee of £8 per month.

The mentoring fee is £300 for birth doula recognition and £300 for postnatal doula recognition.  For birth AND postnatal doula recognition you will need to budget for a total of £600 which is paid to your doula mentor in instalments.
