Alternative Pathway Workshop
We strive to be an inclusive and open organisation, and recognise that doulas join us from a variety of backgrounds with different levels of experience.
The Alternative Pathway is suitable for:
Experienced doulas with or without formal training (15 or more births and/or 300 postnatal hours)
Doulas who have completed comprehensive doula training in the UK or Internationally and have some doula experience.
Doula UK Alternative Pathway workshops take place online and there are two modules. When the modules have been completed individuals can then find a Doula UK mentor and join.
Training takes place online comprising of two modules and is led by an experienced doula and costs £200.
Module One
Supporting birth from a doula’s perspective, how to be impartial, objectivity, signposting, debriefing personal journeys, infant feeding and supporting families through the early postnatal period.
Module Two
The Doula UK Code of Conduct, benefits of Doula UK membership, Contracts and managing your business, what doulas do and what they don’t do, mentoring and building your network within Doula UK.
