Before we work together, we’ll take the time to meet, connect and build a trusting relationship. I’ll listen deeply to your hopes, wishes and needs, so I can offer the kind of support that feels truly personal to you and your growing family.
I come from a large family myself and have always been surrounded by babies and children. I know just how unique every family is – no two births are the same, and neither are the bonds we build. I’m a proud mum to two grown-up daughters and a very happy Nana to my little grandson’s.
My own birth experiences helped shape the doula I am today. My first daughter arrived at 37 weeks with the help of a ventouse – it was a positive and empowering experience. After many years trying to conceive my second daughter, I went through IVF and she was born naturally at 38 weeks. In February 2023, I was honoured to support my daughter through a beautiful water birth, where I saw the power of hypnobirthing first-hand. These experiences, and a spark that was lit when I supported a friend in birth many years ago, eventually led me to train as a birth and postnatal doula.
The love I bring to my work is rooted in traditional motherly care – gentle, respectful and nurturing. I treat every family with affection and thoughtfulness, always holding space for your personal preferences and boundaries.
For some families, the support they’re looking for is focused on the early postpartum period. I love this sacred window of time and can help you plan during pregnancy to make sure you feel held and nourished as you begin life with your baby. We’ll look at what kind of care will be most helpful – whether it’s rest, food, emotional support, or just a calm presence to help you adjust.
I’ve had the joy of supporting families from many different backgrounds and cultures, and it’s an honour to witness the strength and beauty in every birth.
I’m also:
• A peer supporter at a Mindful Breastfeeding drop-in café
• Trained in the 3-Step Rewind technique to gently support those with previous birth trauma
If you’d like to meet for a cuppa and see if we ‘click’, I’d love to hear from you. Let’s chat and see if I might be the right doula to walk alongside you on this journey.
