I am the eldest of four children, and I have four myself, so pregnancy, birth and beyond has pretty much always been a part of my life. All of my pregnancies, births and indeed children were different, and I began to educate myself then about the choices and decisions that could be made, and have just never stopped!
I completed my Doula training in 2016 and have worked for almost a decade supporting families throughout their pregnancies, labour and postnatal transitions.
My training course gave me a good grounding in how to use massage and acupressure to support labour, and how watching and listening is such a powerful tool. Further training in biomechanics gave additional, practical skills to take in to the birth space. My work is always evidence based and person centred. Mostly I love building relationships with the families I work with - knowing that the support we as Doulas can offer can be invaluable and empowering for the people we work with. As a Doula, it has been my privilege to support home births, vaginal breech birth, and caesarean births, as well as births in MLU and hospitals.
Having personally had a VBA3C, I have a deep and profound respect and passion for those exploring a VBAC, working regularly with these families.
I am a trained breast feeding peer supporter and believe it's vital we give time and space in those early days to work through any feeding concerns. I am also trained in the 3 step Rewind technique which can be particularly useful for those who have previous experience of birth trauma. I have a full, clean driving licence and have a current DBS check. I am happy to work with you before, during and after the birth - or in any combination that you feel would serve you best, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
you gave me more support, confidence and security than you'll ever realise, meaning we could have the birth we dreamed of'
