About Me
I’m Bea, a birth and postnatal doula based in Crowborough, East Sussex, where I live with my husband and two children.
I believe every woman deserves an empowering birth, a birth that makes them proud of their body and confident as a mother – to have a positive birth story whether that’s an elective caesarean or a drug free water birth at home, whether it goes to plan or not you can come away with memories to cherish if you are informed, heard and validated.
Those precious early days and weeks, the fourth trimester, are moments to be treasured – you need support to create and protect that newborn bubble, to ease the transition to new motherhood (the first, second, third or tenth time) and make the most of that special time.
I have over 2000 hours of postnatal doula experience and have worked with twins, premature babies, first, second and third time parents. I have experience in physiological birth, caesarean birth, VBAC (vaginal birth after caesarean), water birth, instrumental birth, epidural birth and induced birth across all birth settings – hospital, birth centre and home – nearly 30 births in total. I have experience working with those that have suffered birth trauma, postnatal depression and domestic abuse, those that have suffered previous baby loss and who have had assisted conception. I have experience supporting single parents as both a birth and postnatal doula. Google Five star rated.
I am DBS checked, insured and trained in Family First Aid. Additional training including Infant Feeding Peer Supporter, The Infant Feeding Academy Three Secrets to Supporting Breastfeeding workshop, BabyEm Identifying Tongue-tie in Infants masterclass, BabyEm supporting families whose babies experience symptoms of colic, reflux and infant allergies masterclass, Microbiome Course The Science of Human Milk, Sophie Messenger Closing The Bones postpartum ritual workshop, The Baby Reflux Lady The Current Approach to Babies with Reflux seminar and SANDS Supporting families through pregnancy loss and the death of a baby workshop.
“I cannot recommend Bea highly enough. She is kind, caring, resourceful, so helpful, hardworking and knowledgeable. Bea looked after us all postnatally for three months. Bea is a fantastic chef and made us delicious meals, not having to cook with a newborn was a huge timesaver. Bea was so patient and kind with my 9 year old daughter, taking her to school and playing games during the school holidays. Most importantly, she looked after our newborn who was a super premie and gave us reassurance, which was invaluable during long days and sleepless nights” — Liz
“Absolutely the best decision for our first baby’s birth. Bea was amazing and we cannot recommend her highly enough. Bea came across as a strong, confident and knowledgable doula who would stand her ground if she felt needs/wants during birth weren’t being heard. Bea was absolutely fantastic at reminding us of birth preferences, providing positive reassurance during labour and advocating our birth wishes which were a very positive contribution to our experience. She has offered a great balance of encouraging, educating and positive chat that we really needed in the lead up to baby number 1!” — Charlotte
“I felt immediately comfortable in Bea’s company, she feels like (an extremely helpful) friend who I genuinely enjoy spending time with. She always listened empathetically and offered advice in a non judgemental and informal way. She made it very easy to open up. I will 100% use a doula (hopefully Bea) for birth and post-natal support if/when I have another child. My only regret is I didn’t book her sooner and for the birth, I believe she has fundamentally affected my positive outcome. I have enjoyed having a doula so much that I would seriously consider training as one myself.” — Amy
“I felt comfortable with Bea, she came across very kind and caring, supportive of my wishes. She was knowledgable, there if I needed to ask anything. She was accommodating of what I needed from a doula, even coming with me to a consultant appointment. She talked me through my decisions, helping me make informed choices. I new she had my back and could advocate for me. Bea was very supportive during my labour, helping my husband, giving me encouragement and just being there. She helped calm me, talking to me and helping me position, always there with anything I needed or she thought I could do with and answering any questions I had. I felt very much supported through the whole pregnancy, birth and after.” — Lisa
“Bea was only ever a WhatsApp away, I found her rational approach incredibly helpful. During the birth her support for both myself and my husband was immeasurable. She helped me to stay calm and feel in control, once in the birth centre my partner and Bea worked together to make it a relaxed environment. Having Bea on hand to bridge the conversations between the midwife and me and advocate for how I wanted the birth to go was brilliant. Postnatally Bea helped me to feel confident with breastfeeding, she gave us a break to catch up on some sleep as well as batch cooked – I would wholeheartedly recommend her as a doula.” — Hannah
“I could not have given the emotional support to my partner that I was able to give without Bea. I can’t recommend her enough – she is an enabler, allowing you to be there for your partner and new baby” — Ryan
“We are so grateful for all your support and help. You made a huge difference to the early days, taking the pressure off so we can enjoy both our children as much as possible. I cannot thank you enough and cannot express what it means to be able to breastfeed, I am so ecstatically happy and honestly could not have done this without you” — Hannah
“From the first enquiry email, Bea came across warm, kind and just the person you would want by your side. I was reassured and helped through so many anxieties in pregnancy by Bea, if that was her giving support and advice or researching relevant information. Bea has such a calming energy and that’s what I needed to help me through labour. She tried everything she could to make the process as calm as she could for me, talking me through every contraction, being the hand I grab. She took pressure off my partner and at times guided him to comfort me himself. Having the extra support was so beneficial. Can’t thank her enough!” — Kylie
“Bea was fantastic. She supported me postnatally, as I was trying to cope with three under 4. She fit in very quickly. The house looked amazing when she left (so tidy!), batched cooked several meals and helped with the laundry. She looked after the baby at one stage and I was able to take my older son out to a play group. So grateful for all Bea’s efforts and would definitely recommend her.” — Katie
