Congratulations on your pregnancy or your new baby 🤍
The fact that you’re here, exploring doula support, already tells me something about you. You care deeply about how this journey feels.
Because this isn’t just about having a baby.
It’s about how you move through this profound transformation.
How you feel in your body and nervous system.
How you are held, heard, and supported.
I’m here to walk alongside you through pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood. Not to lead, fix, or take over, but to meet you wherever you are and support you in finding your own way.
I trust birth and I trust you. Your body is capable, and birth usually does not need to be managed or fixed... you do not need to be rescued! I know medical interventions are widely overused, and many women feel pressured into choices they later question, but I also respect that they can be necessary at times. There should always be room for discussion, for nuance, and for personalised care. You are the expert on your own body and your birth, and I support your choices.
I will be on your team, offering emotional and practical support, sharing evidence-based information, and helping you feel confident to make decisions that are right for you. I will hold space for you to feel calm, grounded, and powerful in your experience, whatever path your birth takes.
A big part of my role is helping you feel truly prepared, not just for the birth you hope for, but for the unexpected too. Even if things take a different turn, you can still feel safe, respected, and in control, with your choices and your family’s values at the centre.
Many families I work with are drawn to a more undisturbed, physiological approach to birth, and I have supported many home births, both with and without midwives. I honour your desire to give birth where you feel safest, most comfortable and in control, and I deeply trust your body’s ability to birth. I will reinforce your innate capacity to experience the intensity and power of birth in its raw and primal form.
The great majority of women I support who prepare for home birth go on to have powerful, joyful, and transformative births in their own homes. On the occasions where families choose to transfer to hospital for additional support, birth can still feel positive, calm, and deeply meaningful. I am there alongside you to bring as much of their original environment and energy as possible and to advocate for your needs and wishes, offering continuity and familiarity when things may feel unfamiliar or uncertain. I see time and time again that the preparation and mindset work we do together makes a lasting difference, whatever direction the birth takes.
I support all kinds of births, whether at home or in hospital, with planned or unplanned medical support. I see when women consider interventions from a place of information, preparation, and choice, the birth can still be powerful, positive, and truly their own. I have witnessed a huge variety of birthing experiences and can help you process your options with the additional insight of knowing you and your values, to support your confident decision-making.
After birth, I continue to support you as you find your feet in early parenthood. Whether that is feeding support, emotional reassurance, or simply someone to listen and hold space, you will not be doing this alone.
Some families choose to work with a doula once their baby has already arrived. I hold space for you as you process your birth experience and adjust to life with your newborn. I will care for you as a new parent as well as your baby, offering gentle, practical support with light household tasks, alongside information and signposting when you need it.
I also support families experiencing grief or loss. I will hold you with tenderness and care through the full spectrum of emotions that can come with a pregnancy that does not end with your baby in your arms.
My support is always without judgement, just steady, consistent, and alongside you.
Before becoming a doula, I spent 13 years as a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist in the NHS supporting adults with communication and swallowing difficulties, often through complex decisions. I bring an unwavering calm, grounding presence, a toolkit of comfort measures and birth experience, strong advocacy skills, and a clear understanding of how to navigate the maternity system while always keeping you at the centre.
My hope for every family I work with is that you come away from your experience feeling strong, respected, and deeply proud of yourself, ready to step into your next chapter in your own way.
Outside of work, I live with my husband, our two children, two cats, and often a trio of cheeky visiting horses who cut the grass for us. Life here is always muddy, sometimes chaotic, and beautifully fulfilling, and we also love nothing more than slowing down and snuggling under a blanket. You will often find me swimming, practising yoga, or rooting through a good charity shop.
If this resonates with you, I would love to hear from you. Please explore my website to find out more about my services, and book a free 30 minute connection call to discuss my doula support in more detail.
Testimonials:
"I had the most beautiful home birth with Bonnie's support. I felt confident that she would be my strongest advocate during labour. She held my birthing space beautifully, quietly reassuring and encouraging me from the sidelines. I gave birth feeling like an absolute goddess and the whole experience is one I look back on with such joy." Alice
"With all the support and planning we did together we were able to have the most perfect labour and birth experience. I felt empowered and strong enough to birth my child without any intervention or pain relief. In all honesty it is hard to put into words how much we appreciated the support we had from Bonnie and how different our experience would have been without her involvement. Best decision ever reaching out to her." Megan
"I knew Bonnie was there for me at every step along the way. She has the most gentle calming voice, which you need when things really heat up! When we came home, Bonnie was there to help me with breastfeeding, and hold my baby while I rested." Nadia
"Bonnie has been an invaluable support to me in our postpartum journey. She listened, showing such empathy to the breastfeeding struggles we were having. Bonnie had a wealth of suggestions and shared useful resources. Her encouragement kept me going and I am so grateful to her." Katie
