Hi, I’m Caroline, I live in North London, have three grown up children and two big dogs – and I’m passionate about everything to do with labour, birth and babies!
I have been working with families for over 15 years as an NCT antenatal teacher, baby massage practitioner and Homestart early years volunteer. Having been with women during labour and birth I decided to formalise this by training to become a birth doula which felt like a natural extension to my work with families to date.
Doula Philosophy
As a doula my main aim is to offer calm, confident and compassionate support throughout your birth journey.
I hope to empower you to clearly and positively navigate your way through labour and birth by providing emotional, physical and informative support and so ensuring that you feel heard and respected every step of the way.
Decision Making & Preparation
Making informed decisions about your care is the best way to make sure you have an overall positive birth experience. Every labour and birth is different so it is vital to make the decisions that are right for you during this time. My NCT teaching and listening to birth stories of my groups has shown me how difficult it can be to navigate the system, without feeling pressured into going down a particular route, as a doula this is one of my most important roles. I can help you to:
- Advocate for your birth plan that we have worked on together, while remaining flexible and open minded to unexpected changes.
- Understand your options so you feel prepared for every stage of labour and birth.
- Communicate with your healthcare professionals in an assertive, but not aggressive way to ensure your choices are acknowledged.
Where we go from here
Whether this is your first birth, or you want to do things differently this time round, I can be there to help and support you. I feel passionately that everyone should have an overall positive experience of labour and birth and believe that as a doula I can help you to achieve this.
If you want to know more, please get in touch to discuss as I’d love to be part of your exciting new journey.
