My name is Chantal, and thank you for taking the time to read my profile.
My journey to this work began long before I became a doula. Born in South Africa, I spent two transformative years in Houston, Texas, working as an au pair for a family with three children. This experience opened my heart to the beauty and challenges of supporting families during their everyday moments. In 1995, I made England my home, settling on the outskirts of Crawley, West Sussex, where I soon met my husband.
We married in 1998, and I became a mother to two wonderful daughters in 2000 and 2003. Those years as a stay-at-home mum were filled with the full spectrum of motherhood - the overwhelming love, the sleepless nights, the small daily victories, and the moments of doubt that every parent knows. I experienced firsthand the profound transformation that comes with welcoming a baby, and I understand intimately both the joy and the challenges of those early days.
Now, as my daughters have grown into young adults, I've found my calling in supporting other families through this same beautiful, complex journey. Living here in West Sussex with my husband, daughters, and our two dogs, I bring to my doula work not just professional training, but the deep well of understanding that comes from having walked this path myself.
I understand that the postpartum period can bring a complex mix of emotions and needs. My gentle, non-judgmental presence helps create a cocoon of care around your family during this tender time, drawing from both my personal experience as a mother and my genuine love for supporting others through life's most meaningful transitions.
Every feeding journey is unique, and it's completely normal to experience both beautiful moments and challenging times along the way. What matters most is finding an approach that feels right for your family, whether that's exclusive breastfeeding, combination feeding, or formula feeding.
If feeding challenges arise that require specialised expertise beyond my peer support training, I'll be here to help you connect with IBCLC/lactation consultants or other professionals who can offer the deeper clinical support you need. My role remains centred on providing warm, non-judgmental encouragement while completely honouring the choices that feel right for your family.
Thank you, Chantal
