As your postnatal doula I’m there to make sure you feel rested, supported and nourished in the first weeks after having your baby.
I’m passionate about supporting women and their families pre and postnatally so they can move towards parenting in a way that intuitively feels right for them. If it’s your first baby being supported in this way helps you gradually grow in confidence as you find your own way; if it’s your second, third or fourth baby it’s immensely helpful to receive this support and have enough space to get to know your baby and still feel connected with the rest of your family as you all settle into your new calibration.
Through my weekly pregnancy and postnatal yoga classes, mothers’ workshops and sharing circles I have facilitated groups for hundreds of new mothers, helping them heal their bodies and offering space for them to process and share the life-transforming experiences of becoming a mother. It’s a privilege to extend that support to families looking for a postnatal doula to help them thrive in the early days of parenthood.
I’ll help you find your feet and to offer an extra pair of hands and a listening ear, celebrating the good days with you and there to support you on the more challenging ones. I can also offer yoga-related appropriate and effective breath, body and mind practices to help you feel calm, energised and strong.
I’ve worked with mothers with extremely varied experiences and I have no set idea of what a mother “should” do or feel. I am happy to support you whatever your parenting choices are, and whether you need short-term or more extensive support.
I’ve lived in south-east London since I was pregnant and worked in pre/postnatal services in the area since my daughter was a baby, so I have good knowledge of the local area and relevant services and support offered. I am a volunteer at my local breastfeeding café and believe that women should be supported to make the right feeding choice for them.
I can help with a range of tasks, including (but not limited to):
- Support with breastfeeding or bottle feeding
- Talking through any questions or worries
- Debriefing your birth and any feelings around it
- Caring for your baby so you can get vital rest
- Cooking nourishing food for you and your family
- Gentle postnatal yoga including restorative sessions, breathwork or movement to ease aches and pains
- Playing with siblings
- Light housework
- Research or signposting to any relevant information or organisations
I ‘m passionate about supporting women and about elevating the important heart-and-soul work of motherhood. After having my daughter I retrained (from working in digital communications for charities) as a yoga teacher with a specialism in pre and postnatal, before completing my postnatal doula training.
I love to write and I have an Instagram account (@stretchedmums) where I write about motherhood and yoga. I love yoga (obviously), spending time with my family, getting outdoors, reading, going to bed embarrassingly early and the odd more exciting night out with friends. I live in Crystal Palace with my daughter and husband.
Emotional and practical support to help you get to grips with caring for your baby. I can provide support by the hour or a package of 20 hours. Each session 2 hours minimum.
