About Me
I offer caring, knowledgeable postnatal support in the fourth trimester that will transform your experience of becoming a parent, whether it’s for the first or subsequent time. I make it my mission to help mothers feel more calm, rested and confident in these vital early days – whatever support looks like for them.
I’ve been a postnatal doula for five years and I have two children (3 and 8 years old respectively). I am deeply passionate about mothers receiving the kind of care and support that helps them to thrive, not just survive.
I’m a yoga teacher with specialisms in prenatal, postnatal and pelvic floor and core rehab, so I take a whole-body approach to your wellbeing. This means that I bring an understanding of how our nervous systems and our physical bodies play into how we feel supported and rested in the early days of being a parent. Emotional support, being well fed and nourished, reduction of stress and feeling comfortable in our bodies are essential for postnatal recovery.
I work collaboratively and intuitively, supporting you to work out exactly what need on any given day. That might be a nap and a shower while your baby is sleeping in a sling on me, giving me the chance to make delicious food (you can download a document with examples of the food I make here). Or it might answering your questions, supporting you with breastfeeding or a having long debrief together. Usually on a visit (I tend to work in 3 hour blocks) we can achieve all these things!
I am a deeply practised listener (after years of professional work on counselling helplines as well as doula work, facilitating women’s circles and other group spaces). Sometimes all we need is reflection that what we’re feeling is totally normal. And sometimes we need someone to gently suggest another perspective or further support.
As well as doula work and movement classes I also run online seasonal women’s circles and facilitate a local mum and baby group called Gathered. I’m a writer and I often write about motherhood – you can see my work on my Substack account and find out about my other work on my website.
I’ve lived in south-east London since I was pregnant and worked in pre/postnatal services in the area since my daughter was a baby, so I have good knowledge of the local area and relevant services and support offered. I am a volunteer at my local breastfeeding café and believe that women should be supported to make the right feeding choice for them.
