About Me
Hi to you and your growing family!
Congratulations and thank you for taking the time to find out more about me!
I’m Clair and I am a recognised birth and postnatal doula based in Shepton Mallet, Somerset. I live with my husband, daughter and our two cats and I love my ‘job’, if I should even call it that?!
I offer a personalised service to all of my clients that is adapted to their own requirements and always has a central focus on continuity of care. I am a Mindful Breastfeeding Peer Supporter and I also offer 3 Step Rewind, for those experiencing negative feelings and emotions as a result of previous life events.
Through my own experiences as a mother and now as a doula, I have formed a particular passion for birth rights, postnatal wellness and perinatal mental health. Since becoming a doula I have supported a whole variety of families, in a whole variety of scenarios, both during birth and postnatally. Each family from different walks of life and all with their own individual story to tell.
I have experience in supporting vaginal and caesarean births in a variety of environments, such as home, midwifery-led units and hospitals. I have supported both medicated and un-medicated births, including births in the pool. I have had the pleasure of supporting same sex couples, neurodivergent families and parents with complex medical conditions. All of the families I have supported have required different things from me and, as such, I believe you are the expert in the care and support that you need.
As your doula, I will be your biggest cheerleader and ally; advocating for you and offering non-biased, evidence-based information. I will share resources, tools and knowledge with you which will help empower you to make your own informed choices during your pregnancy, birth and during your early postnatal days, allowing you to truly have control and own your birth experience.

More About Me
I am a mother (to my daughter Aoife), wife (to my husband Kev), daughter, sister, auntie and friend. Family are very important to me and are the primary focus of all that I do. And that is exactly how I became a doula…
I had a difficult pregnancy myself. It challenged me from the very beginning, suffering throughout with ill health (Hyperemesis/HG), which resulted in me being diagnosed with PTSD, postnatal depression and anxiety. Although I had a lot of friends and family around me, I felt they were unable to offer me the professional help, understanding and empathy that I needed and I felt like I didn’t know where to turn for reliable information and support. I began to educate myself on pregnancy, birth and the postnatal days and this thirst for knowledge quickly turned into a huge passion of mine.
The more I read and heard other’s stories, the more passionate I became about helping other families and so I went about changing my career and re-training as a Doula. I completed my Continuum Doula course in October 2020 and Malama Mama was born!
I believe there is a huge window of opportunity for you and your family to become informed and knowledgeable about your birth and the choices you have available to you. I am pro-choice, meaning I support you in establishing how you envisage your birth, whether that be at home, in a birthing centre or in a clinical-led unit. I offer an open and safe space for you and your family that allows you to explore your options and empowers you to have the positive pregnancy, birth and postnatal experience you deserve.

Kind Words From Clients
“With factual advice and guided meditation Clair helped me navigate through fears relating to previous pregnancy loss, breastfeeding trauma, and general stress to approach labour with a still mind. My son arrived more than 3 weeks early and very, very fast. However ,thanks to Clair’s help in preparing, I stayed focussed and confident through the contractions and safely gave birth exactly where I’d intended.”
“A completely amazing experience which would have been very different without the knowledge, confidence and support we gained from Clair which was far above and beyond just the sessions we were signed up for.”
“Clair is insightful, knowledgeable, warm and down to earth, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her.”
