About Me
Being a Birth Keeper is a spiritual path
This whole journey began with God trying to communicate with me. Through visions and dreams I was witnessing women in labour, they were my friends, my sisters birthing their children at home. Other times, I was giving birth, wild, primal, on my own. Every time I woke up it all felt so real, so visceral. I tried to sabotage the process by telling myself that as a maiden I had nothing to offer to a labouring woman, but I knew deep down that wasn’t true.
By then I had an honours degree in Naturology. I had spent for four and a half years studying traditional and contemporary holistic healing modalities in Brazil and had been working 1:1 since 2010. I had in my hands, what I knew to be useful resources to support pregnancy, birth and postpartum, but I didn’t think I had the ‘birth knowledge’ to step into this role straight away. Since then, I did a number a different trainings (I share the details of these below) and had been mentored by incredible wise women all over the world. Only now I understand that the true learning comes from the women I got to walk with and the ongoing inner-work, that in my view is essential to this work.
Being a Birth Keeper is spiritual calling. It’s beyond something that is taught in 4 day course. It’s an ongoing deep journey of self-mastery and it’s a path I’m dedicated to walk with my full heart and soul.
I’m devoted to holding women while they harness their own trust and confidence into bringing their children into the world and whilst birthing themselves as sovereign mothers. It is my deep commitment to help women reclaim their full autonomy and know their power through the way they birth and mother their babies.
I see birth as rite of passage, a sacred portal, a moment where women are in intimate communion with Divinity.
Mama, I will offer you not only a safe space but a sanctuary where you feel honoured, respected, wholly seen and nurtured. I’m not here to guide you but to be guided by you. And if necessary, I will reassure and remind you of the powerful strenght you have inside you.
I believe and know childbirth can be filled with bliss and joy when a mother receives the right support and is able to reclaim her autonomy and birth in power.
If you feel a connection and think I can offer the support you are looking for, please get it touch and it will be a honour to walk this journey with you.

I knew from the moment I read Daia’s profile that she was the woman that I wanted to support us through our pregnancy and birth journey. Her skills and values were all that I had hoped for in my search for a doula. Her warm nature and wisdom were evident in our first meeting, and I immediately felt emotionally safe.
After connecting with our thoughts and story as to how we had come to arrive at this point, Daia showed me how to visualise what I wanted and lead me there by guiding me through the necessary work. She worked with my husband and I, supporting us as a team in the lead up to, and during birth, making me feel seen and heard, holding space for me at all time. During birth, she was my voice when I needed her to be, she gently offered choices when my mind was elsewhere, she eased my discomfort with rebozo, and I’ll always feel my hand in her in those moments where my husband received our son.
Through Daia’s support we were able to align our dreams connecting them with reality; we experienced a truly life changing, transcending event, and I will be forever grateful to her. Daia is a gift.
In those sacred hours after birth, Daia made sure I was nourished, the atmosphere was calm, and that I had all that my body needed. She supported me with feeding and seemed to instinctively know how to hold space for me and our family.
In a time where women, in our society, are often without mothers, sisters, aunties and friends in their postnatal period, Daia is invaluable. She is literally a gift to all new mothers, and I attribute my emotions and hormonal wellbeing to the support we received in the immediate days and weeks following birth. I was able to fully immerse myself in my new baby. Treasuring every little move, noise and expression without worrying about cleaning up after breakfast or preparing dinner. – Leigh-Anne H. — second time mama : homebirth : 2020“
