*ADDITIONAL DOULA SERVICES* - we are facing challenging times and for pregnant women the suspension of local home birth services and the one birth partner rule are not helping to create a relaxing, stress free pregnancy and birth. With this in mind I am offering a virtual/online doula service - the doula package - 2 antenatal and 1 postnatal session, a virtual presence at the birth (if appropriate), resources and up to date information during your pregnancy and signposting to local support after the birth. I can be available via telephone, text, email as well as skype/whatsapp video calls. I am also happy to be available for individual 1 or 2 hour sessions acting as a listening ear if you have concerns about your care/ are unsure about your choices / want to debrief a previous birth / need help with your birth preferences or need reassurance about your upcoming birth. Please get in touch and we can tailor support that suits your needs. Please note that unfortunately I am unable to offer maternity reflexology at this time.

About Me
Hallo, welcome and many congratulations on your pregnancy ! I hope you find the following information about my work as a doula useful. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any other questions about my services. I offer a free initial meeting to see if the ‘fit’ is right as it’s important that you find a doula with whom you feel confident and comfortable. I live in Belper and currently offer cover in Belper, Derby up to a 10 mile radius. I have attended births at Royal Derby, City and QMC Nottingham, Chesterfield, Jessops (Sheffield) and home births in the surrounding areas.
I have two adult sons, both born gently at home amongst friends and family though my doula journey began before my sons were born. I was honoured to be invited to journey with several women through their births in the months before my first son’s birth. I was entranced, impassioned and hooked by the power, courage and magic that I witnessed and my belief about a woman’s ability and capacity to give birth has never diminished or dimmed since that time. I felt that I was in the ‘right’ place and my passion for being with women during this transformative time began.
Since then the depth of my experience has expanded and in the early 90s I enrolled on an American doula course in London. I have subsequently attended births both at home and hospital, waterbirths, VBAC births both home and hospital, vaginal breech births, twin birth and cesarean births. I continually update my skills and have been to workshops run by leading birth professionals including : Ina May Gaskin, Jean Sutton, Janet Balaskas, Penny Simkin, Gail Tully and Jack Newman.
The doula is woman led i.e. whatever your dream, I will work with you to try and achieve it. My main concern is that women know that they always have a choice, that it’s ok to ask questions about their care and to take time to make decisions. My hope is to inspire you towards the best experience for you, whatever form that might take.

I am also a qualified and experienced maternity reflexologist. Reflexology is one of the safest, most supportive therapies for pregnant women and sensitively applied, is excellent during pregnancy for both the mother and baby. Research has shown that it can improve the chances of a shorter, less intense labour and recovery of the mother and baby is quicker which enhances breastfeeding and bonding.
