Hi, I’m Lizzie. I’m originally from South Africa and moved to the UK with my husband in my late twenties. While I haven’t had children of my own and have walked a long and personal journey with infertility, I have had the privilege of supporting hundreds of families through pregnancy and birth over the years (first delivery was in 2012). My passion for this work has only deepened with time.
Outside of work, I’m a lover of travel, good pizza, time with my very big family, hiking, snowboarding, being creative and life with our two fluffy cats.
Before becoming a doula, I worked for many years as a registered nurse and midwife. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and Midwifery and I remain a practising NMC-registered nurse in the UK.
Through my clinical work, I saw first-hand how stretched maternity services can leave families without the emotional continuity and practical support they truly need. This experience shaped my move into perinatal support, where I could offer education, consistency, and a calm, familiar presence alongside medical care.
I have a deep respect for the body’s ability to birth and a genuine sense of wonder at the physiological process. This underpins all of my antenatal preparation. One of my greatest joys is helping you develop the same trust in your body and confidence in your own instincts.
I believe birth is a natural and instinctive process and that our bodies are beautifully designed for it. With the right knowledge, preparation and support, many women can experience birth in an empowering way.
At the same time, I recognise that birth is unpredictable. My role is not to push a single “ideal” outcome, but to help you feel informed and emotionally held whatever path your birth takes.
As your Doula, my role is to:
- Provide clear, evidence-based information so you feel confident in your choices.
- Help you work with your body through movement, breathing and positioning.
- Support you in creating an optimal birth environment at home, in a birth centre or in hospital
- Hold space for you and your birth partner so you feel respected, calm, and in control.
If you are hoping for an undisturbed, low-intervention birth, I will support you in working with your body’s innate power while ensuring you feel safe and supported throughout.

The Dutch Way – Postpartum Support
Structured postnatal care inspired by the Dutch kraamzorg model, offering in-home support in the first 10 to 14 days. This focuses on rest, recovery, feeding support, and settling into family life.
Working Alongside Your Care Team
While my role is non-clinical and distinct from midwifery practice, my healthcare background allows me to navigate the maternity system confidently and work collaboratively with midwives, health visitors, and doctors.
I value teamwork and see my role as complementary to medical care, offering time, presence and reassurance where it is most needed.
A Personal Approach
Every family is different, and I tailor my care to your individual needs. This may look like structured guidance, gentle encouragement, or simply being a steady presence during moments that feel tender or overwhelming.
Supporting families through this chapter of life is a privilege and I approach it with care, respect, and attention.
