Hi, I’m Esther, but most people call me Esi. I’m a birth and postnatal doula in training, childbirth educator, and the founder of Mwasi | Mama, a space created to support women through their personal womanhood journey, pregnancy, birth, and early motherhood with compassion, clarity, and steadiness.
I became a doula after hearing too many stories from loved ones who felt unseen, unheard or unsupported during birth. Something in me knew I wanted to offer a different kind of care. One rooted in calm advocacy, thoughtful preparation, and genuine human connection.
I’ve now spent the last three years supporting families, including many women considered vulnerable, and those experiences have shaped my practice into one that is nurturing, steady, trauma-aware and deeply respectful of each person’s journey.
My Approach
You deserve to feel confident, informed and emotionally held; not overwhelmed, dismissed or pressured.
My role is to be a grounding presence: someone who listens fully, supports your choices, and helps you feel at home in your body and your birth space.
Whether we’re unpacking your birth preferences, practising comfort techniques, planning postpartum care, or navigating unexpected changes, I aim to bring a calm, anchored energy into your experience. With me, you’re never doing this alone.
Who I Support
I offer care that is warm, steady and adaptable to many different needs. I welcome and support:
- First-time mums wanting guidance and a reassuring presence
- Women healing from previous birth trauma, who benefit from sensitive, grounded support
- Families planning home births, seeking calm continuity
- Parents preparing for planned or elective caesareans, wanting emotional and practical stability
- Women navigating complex pregnancies, who value non-judgmental, consistent care
- Anyone wanting an advocate in the room, ensuring they feel respected and fully informed
My background working closely with vulnerable women means I’m comfortable supporting people through uncertainty, fear, joy, transition, all of it.
Whatever your story or your preferences, I’m here to meet you exactly where you are.
Postnatal Support
I offer gentle, non-medical postnatal doula support to help you feel rested, reassured, and supported in the early weeks after birth.
With my support, you can:
- Feel less overwhelmed and more emotionally held during the transition into parenthood
- Rest, sleep, shower, or take time for yourself without worrying about your baby
- Recover at your own pace, without pressure or judgement
- Ask questions freely and receive calm, reassuring guidance
- Process your birth experience in a safe, supportive space
- Build confidence in caring for your newborn
- Feel more connected to your baby and your own instincts
What I Support You With
- Gentle newborn care (soothing, settling, understanding baby cues)
- Feeding support (breast, bottle, or combination – non-clinical)
- Emotional reassurance and a calm, steady presence
- Light practical help (tidying baby items, bottles)
- Creating space for you to focus on rest, recovery, and bonding
Night-Time Support
For parents needing deeper rest, I offer overnight care so you can sleep while your baby is supported.
With night support, you can:
- Get longer, more restorative stretches of sleep
- Have your baby brought to you for feeds (or bottle-fed if preferred)
- Return to rest while your baby is gently settled after feeds
- Feel reassured knowing your baby is cared for calmly and responsively throughout the night

- Nappy changes and comfort care
- Gentle emotional reassurance
Why I Created Mwasi | Mama
Mwasi | Mama was born from a desire to create a nurturing, grounded space for women to feel supported not just as “mothers,” but as whole, complex individuals.
It’s a space where you are encouraged to honour who you are, lean into your intuition, and feel held during one of the most transformative seasons of your life.
At the heart of Mwasi | Mama is community, compassion and sisterhood; a place where you can feel safe, prepared, informed and empowered.
