As a doula and maternity nurse, I am here to support you through your journey both antenatally, and postnatally. My practice is rooted in advocacy and care, and also the idea of mothering the mother, which is popular throughout Asia. In Asia and other cultures around the world, the first 6 weeks after birth are focused generously on the mother and helping her get back to health through specific warming meals, teas, and overall rest and support. My goal is to bring this to the mothers who need it the most, and to allow this idea to grow within London, a city which is always fast paced. As a woman from a mixed background, I am able to support mothers who 'miss home' by providing them with comforting meals and support that they may have gotten from their own mothers, with my role being to nourish you whilst you nourish your baby!
At Luma Mother, I am here to support you whether it be through a birth package, or through a beyond birth package in anyway that you need including:
- Antenatal sessions to prepare, which are likely to take place around weeks 30 - 34.
- Postnatal planning.
- Phone support throughout pregnancy during office hours to answer any questions you have by text or phone.
- On call from 10 days prior to your due date until your baby is born, whenever that may happen in the day.
- Support throughout your birth and 3 hours after your baby is born to help you get comfortable and to establish feeding.
- 1 postnatal session to help you prepare for the coming weeks with your baby.
- I can also provide one to one virtual support for those who feel like they do not quite need the full support of a doula, but would still like support throughout their pregnancy and birth.
- I provide 3 sessions that are 1 hour each before the arrival of your baby, as well as options for phone support during birth and postnatally.
- Postpartum planning including what to buy, cook, freeze, things for the baby's nursery, the hospital bags, and preparing you for emotional changes.
- Supporting you at home in the first weeks or months after the arrival of your new baby.
- Supporting you through baby care, teaching and guiding you through all you need to know about your baby.
- Night doula - offering night time support to allow you to get the rest you need to recover.
During antenatal sessions, we will cover the following:
- Birth physiology
- Birth interventions
- Birthing positions
- Rebozo scarf usage
- Addressing fears and concerns
- Addressing the importance of advocacy
Alongside my doula services, I also offer food preparation services. All the mothers and families I have worked for have loved my meals and cooking, so whether you're expecting a new addition and need your freezer stocked, or are postpartum and wanting some nutritious meals, I can help. All my cooking uses only organic and highly fresh ingredients, and is supported by a food safety and hygiene protocol and qualification. Supported by traditional Chinese medicine, and using Asian dietary requirements and guidance, the meals are made to support your body by helping you recover through good nutrition. I offer a weekly set plan which includes some options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with teas too, that you can customise and choose as you wish to suit your needs. These plans will be sent out weekly in advance so that any desires can be made known by end of week, to deliver the following Sunday or Monday evening. These can help feed you, your partner and even your weaning baby.
Ultimately, I am here to support you in any way you or your partner may need. I am a strong believer in everyone needs a village, and so I am here to be the village for those who may not have family nearby, or who just wants an extra member alongside them.
I'm looking forward to joining you on your journey, and sharing this experience with you!
