My story to birth work begins right at the beginning of my life; being the youngest of four sisters, I became an auntie at the age of 7. Since then, I have been fascinated by everything to do with pregnancy, labour and birth.
Growing up in the far North East of England however, there wasn’t exactly a scene for ‘doula-ing’ so I decided instead to follow my creativity and got into photography and filmmaking.
After four years of studying Documentary film production at Newcastle university, I finally landed by dream job and moved to London to begin my career as a cinematographer...
After a beautifully eventful summer of celebrating... I found out I was unexpectedly pregnant. And so began my journey back to doula-hood!
While I was pregnant, learning about birth became my new hyper fixation. I did everything I could to prepare myself for birth - yet still, when my daughter was born, I learnt something all my learning could never be a supplement for: the power of support.
I then trained with Nurturing birth and have since supported many different uniquely beautiful births (home births, hospital & C-sections) and supported a wide range of lovely growing families.
I can’t recommend Evie highly enough. She was absolutely brilliant from start to finish.
From our very first call, she instantly felt like a friend to both me and my partner. We came away feeling confident that she would be the perfect teammate to support us through our first birth. Throughout our antenatal sessions and in the lead up to labour, Evie made me feel supported, informed, and completely at ease. Her calm presence, regular check-ins, and excellent knowledge gave me the confidence to trust my body and approach the experience with a positive mindset. During my long labour, Evie was a constant source of reassurance and strength. She had an incredible instinct for when to offer encouragement, guidance, or simply quiet support.
She truly went above and beyond, and I feel so grateful to have had her by my side during such an important time. I wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone looking for compassionate, skilled, and dedicated doula support. I genuinely don’t believe I would have had such an empowering birth experience without her.
I am a very curious person who loves learning and continue to grow in my knowledge of birth. I specialise providing evidenced based information centring mental health, neurodivergent-friendly and trauma informed care as research suggests this type of support not only helps the transition to parenthood - but also in ongoing positive mental health in the postpartum period.
