Gail Bennett

Mentored Postnatal Doula

Gail is a postnatal doula and early years expert after nearly two decades working with children and families in a variety of roles. She provides calm, tailor made support to help you navigate the early days with your newborn.

Hello, thanks for clicking on my page!  I am a friendly mum of two children and I have spent many years working with young children and families as an Ofsted registered childminder.  This was a wonderful way to stay at home with my own kids while they were little and I loved seeing the children in my care grow from babies to confident school children, developing and learning along the way.

As my own children grew up, I wanted to expand my role and trained as a postnatal doula.  I now offer care for new mums and babies at the very beginning of their journey together, helping them to feel confident and nurtured in the postpartum period.  The support I offer is always flexible as everyone has different needs and priorities.  It includes:

Planning for the postnatal period - a special session to help you plan ahead for the first few weeks beyond the birth.

Emotional support - a chance to debrief your birth experience, express your feelings and navigate your changing hormones through all the ups and downs of early motherhood.

Infant care and feeding support to help you both thrive in the early days as you get to know each other and understand your baby.

Taking sole charge of your baby - I can look after your baby while you sleep, shower, rest, or just have some time to yourself.

Cooking and nutritional support - Important in the early weeks is to help your body recover from birth.  I can make nourishing, home cooked meals for you and your family so you eat well, feel well and haven't got to worry about getting dinner on the table.

Older siblings - After all that time childminding I'm great at feeding and entertaining your other kids or helping with the school run to give you time and space with your new baby.

Practical help - with light housework, laundry, general errands and all the bits and pieces that help your household run smoothly while you spend time with your baby and much, much more.

"We really can't thank you enough for the brilliant job you have done.  It has been reassuring to have your care and we have really flourished.  I know we will all miss you hugely and I hope to see you again" - Rachel and Adam
