I chose to become a doula after having an amazing birth with my first born. We knew we wanted a homebirth and so worked with two brilliant doulas who helped us have the confidence to create our perfect homebirth. I believe everyone deserves to have the birth experience they want and I will support you in whatever you decide, whether it be in hospital or a homebirth.
Before training to become a Doula, my career had been dedicated to wildlife conservation in which I have a PhD. I have also worked as a lecturer on a degree in animal management and zoology. This career has enabled me to live and work all over the world, as well as teaching me different skills in scientific research, mentoring students and the importance of using evidence based information to make informed decisions. These are all skills that are incredibly important when working as a doula to help clients navigate all the information surrounding pregnancy and birth.
I am a scientist and a free spirit; I respect evidence based research and encourage the use of alternative therapies and ceremony. I love learning, but also believe our intuition is our strongest guide. I have a deep love and respect for nature as well as indigenous and traditional cultures and I strongly believe in the innate wisdom and power we all have as humans. I am really passionate about supporting people to achieve whatever it is they feel they want, not just in birth, but in life. Becoming a parent is a rebirth of yourself and I would like to help you navigate the transition into parenthood, whether it be the first time or the fifth!
I love being outside, having a coffee and reading ( I have a book addiction!). I would describe myself as open-minded, a good listener, supportive and honest. The best way to get to know me is to give me a call and/or arrange a coffee date to have a chat. Please look at my website for the birth and post natal packages that I can offer. Thank you x
