Nutrition support & advice
Hello! I am a certified birth & postnatal doula, living and working in East Staffordshire! I am also a registered nutritionist, mother to 2 lively little boys and lover of the great outdoors. My philosophy? That every woman deserves to feel empowered and informed to make her own choices during pregnancy, birth and on into life with her baby. New life is beautiful, but can also seem tremendously scary and overwhelming. I felt this, I experienced it during my first birth, but also in that immediate postpartum period. It’s time for women to take back their power, have the births they deserve, and not only that, but be supported, emotionally and practically when life with her baby begins. I can do this for you through antenatal education, birth support and visiting you when you’ve had your baby. Support and needs will vary so I can offer virtual and group support, as well as 121 physical meet ups. I’m especially passionate about supporting women who are likely to struggle with such a life change when they go on maternity leave, perhaps those high flyers, where a career has only ever been their focus, until now. I also am particularly interested in supporting women who have previously experienced birth trauma, and would like to have a more positive and healing experience.
Previously I have worked as a nutritionist in the corporate business world, menu writing for schools & universities, with a particular focus on young people with allergies & medical conditions, ensuring the food offers were inclusive and still offered a healthy balance. I also delivered nutrition education to people of all different ages and demographics for 6+ years. I have also worked in the public sector, delivering weight management programmes to adults across a 12-week period. Everything I do, and have always done is evidence-based and rooted in science. These experiences have given me transferrable skills which I can bring to my doularing. I’m passionate about women, women’s health and education. I will use my nutrition knowledge and skills to advise on snacks, (sometimes) supplements, and meals to support the growing baby, during labour, and of course the postpartum period where feeding and recovery is so important. Each and every client is different, and it is an honour to go on that journey with you!
