Heather Newman

Mentored Postnatal Doula

Heather Newman - Postpartum Doula

I’m Heather, a postpartum doula based in Hersham Village, where I live with my husband and daughter.  After becoming a mother in 2019, I left my career in Film and Television Production to retrain in the Postpartum Wellness Industry—a decision shaped by my own experiences of early motherhood.

Like many, I thought I was prepared for life after birth, but the reality was far more challenging than I expected.  What began as a personal journey of healing has now become my life’s purpose.

My Approach to Postpartum Support

Postpartum is a time for deep rest, recovery, and transformation.  And yet many mothers today find themselves overwhelmed, isolated, and under-supported.  I believe every mother deserves to feel held, seen, and deeply cared for—especially in the new, beautiful, and often overwhelming early weeks of motherhood.  Postpartum is a time that is often forgotten, but the truth is this is really where the journey begins!  No two journeys into parenthood are the same, and so my support will always be shaped around you.

Whether we sit and talk over a warm drink, take a quiet moment to breathe together, or I hold your baby so you can rest, I’m here to help you feel grounded and nourished.  Sometimes that means supporting feeding choices, offering emotional space to talk and process, folding a bit of laundry, household chores, running errands, cooking meals, baking or simply reminding you that you’re not alone.

At the heart of everything I do is you and your wellbeing.  My role is to help you feel more like you—even as everything around and within you is shifting.  I want you to feel safe in my presence, never judged, always heard.

Our initial call or meeting is always free, with absolutely no obligation—it’s a chance for us to connect, for you to get a feel for how I work, and to make sure it feels like a 'good fit' for both of us.  I truly believe there’s a right doula for every mother, and what matters most is that you feel comfortable, supported, and seen.

Postpartum can be a vulnerable and transformational time—and I want to be someone you can trust to walk beside you in it, gently and with love.

I want to support you to feel calm, confident and connected as you enter into your Motherhood chapter!

How I Support You

Every parents journey and every postpartum session will look different, so there is no definitive list of what I can do for you, but the list below will hopefully give you an idea of the things I can cover;

Emotional support – listening, holding space, and helping you navigate the emotional shifts of motherhood.

Practical help – light cleaning, tidying, and hands-on assistance to ease your daily life.
Companionship – being by your side at home, a café, the park, or appointments.
Resources & Guidance – connecting you with information, support networks, and trusted professionals.
Nourishment & Relaxation – preparing wholesome meals/snacks to aid your healing and, offering Indian Head Massage as an additional way to promote relaxation and well-being.

I will nurture you as you nurture your baby, ensuring those first few precious weeks and/or months are filled with care, rest, and connection—just as they should be.

Continued Learning & Additional Support

I am dedicated to ongoing education to ensure I can offer the best support to mothers and their families.  I’m currently completing several courses to deepen my expertise in key areas of postpartum care, including:

  • Julia Jones: Newborn Mothers – Expanding my knowledge of the emotional and physical needs of mothers during the postpartum period
  • Alex Heath: Bring Relief with Your Debrief – Learning to offer compassionate, debriefing support to mothers after birth
  • Katie James: Breastfeeding and Lactation: The Fundamentals – Deepening my understanding of breastfeeding support and guidance

I am excited to integrate these learnings into my practice, offering even more comprehensive, informed care to mothers navigating their postpartum journey.

Packages

Every family is different, so let’s make a plan that truly fits yours.  I’m always happy to create tailor-made packages to suit your specific needs.  If you’d prefer to book by the month, or in a way that better fits your flow, let’s talk.  We can build something that works beautifully for you.  My priority is that the support you receive truly meets you where you are.

A 25% deposit is required to secure your booking, with the rest due on your start date.  I never want finances to be a barrier to receiving care, so I’m open to payment plans if that feels helpful.

Overnight Care

Nighttime can feel especially tender in the early weeks of motherhood.  When the world quiets down, the needs of your baby can feel louder—and the lack of sleep, more intense.  Overnight care offers you the chance to truly rest, knowing someone experienced and nurturing is there to hold space for you and your baby.  My aim is to protect the mother - baby dyad.

This kind of support goes beyond practical help—it’s an investment in your rest, recovery, and overall well-being.  By allowing your body to deeply rest:

  • You support your postpartum healing and hormone balance
  • You nourish your nervous system, helping to reduce overwhelm and anxiety
  • You help maintain or boost your milk supply (rest is essential for lactation!)
  • You give your partner space to rest, creating a calmer and more connected home environment

During an overnight visit, I’ll gently support your family in the ways that matter most:

  • Newborn care while you sleep—nappy changes, settling, comforting, and feeds
  • Feeding support—whether you’re breastfeeding, bottle feeding, or a mix of both
  • Guidance with sleep and soothing techniques
  • Light household tasks if baby is settled (washing bottles, tidying the feeding area, prepping breakfast/snacks)
  • A calm, reassuring presence—especially helpful during those emotionally tender nights

Whether you sleep uninterrupted, get support with night feeds, or just need someone to gently guide you through the quiet hours, overnight care brings relief, reassurance, and restoration when you need it most.

I offer this service in 10 hour blocks from 21:00 (pm) until 07:00 (am) for a package price of £150 per night.  If booking overnight care for a longer period of time (2-3 nights a week for a month or more, in excess of 10 nights), I am happy to offer a discounted rate of £130 per night.

Mobile Indian Head Massage for Mothers

30 minutes | £35

Alongside my Doula work, I offer Indian Head Massage—a calming, restorative treatment that focuses on the scalp, neck, shoulders, and upper arms.  It helps ease tension, supports your nervous system, and brings a deep sense of relaxation and clarity—something every mother deserves.

I’m a mobile practitioner, which means I come to you—so you can fully relax in your own space, without needing to leave your baby or your home. Whether you’re pregnant, freshly postpartum, or deep in the motherhood trenches, IHM can be a powerful way to rest, reset, and reconnect with your body.

Massage is included in all doula packages and can be added to any session if requested.  However, you can also book one-off sessions whether or not you’re a current client.

I’m based in Hersham Village (KT12) and cover surrounding areas within approx. 20 minutes’ travel—this includes KT6 to KT13, such as Walton-on-Thames, Weybridge, Esher, and Molesey.  I’m happy to travel further for group sessions or full-day block bookings—just get in touch and we can chat.
