Hello and Congratulations on your pregnancy.
Let's start with my why, the reason I offer this work?
I’m a mum of 4 older children based in Exeter, Devon and mothering has been woven into my life's work. Through my own experiences and navigating this path since 1999 I feel incredibly passionate about the roles I offer to others and although these roles make up the jobs I do, for me, everything I do is more than a job. It’s meaningful work that I’m deeply honoured and privileged to be a part of.
My connection to this work began long before my professional training. After my first birth in hospital which unfortunately left me feeling unheard and vulnerable, I decided to be supported by a doula at home in my own following three births. That support shaped my experience in profound ways. Knowing I was held by someone I trusted allowed me to soften, let go, and to feel safe enough for birth to unfold. I also experienced my pregnancies and post natal journeys in dramatic differences which has enabled me to have deeper understanding of peoples unique challenges and life circumstances.
Experiencing such different levels of support across my four children helped me realise how vital it is for mothers to feel seen, heard and supported. I believe the right support can change everything, not just for the mother, but for the whole family and I realised support was not just important for the birth process but also the journey beyond. I believe birth and becoming a parent is a transformative experience, one that is so often a joy to share with others as well as wanting to feel special, loved and empowered to make your own choices about how your birth unfolds.
Those experiences are what drive my passion today and is why I feel passionate about offering the kind of understanding, care and support that every mother deserves.
After unofficially doularing for friends and family and supporting women in my therapeutic practice, I decided to become certified so I could officially register myself as a doula as well as receive mentorship, meaning I am fully supported while supporting clients.
Through my own practice of yoga and years of embodied work, I have developed a deep understanding of the body, breath, and nervous system, and the essential role they play in birth and the journey beyond and this is the foundation to how I work with others.
My work is also informed by a strong understanding of the biomechanics of the body. Gentle movement, positioning, touch, and bodywork can create space, ease tension, and support comfort and progress in labour. At the same time, I hold deep respect for the fact that every birth unfolds differently. There is no single way it should look. Each person deserves care that is responsive, individualised, and rooted in listening so with this in mind, I place emphasis on helping clients find clarity around making informed choices which are personal to them.
It is important to me that my clients understand my role is not to lead or direct a birth, but to create an environment where the birthing person feels safe, supported, and confident enough to trust themself and their body.
Motherhood has been my greatest teacher and the heart of my life’s work. I feel deeply devoted to the sacredness of birth and mothering, and I feel I bring that reverence into every family I support, offering not only practical care, but warmth, reassurance, resilience, and belief in each persons inner wisdom.
Whether you are seeking prenatal, birth or postpartum care, my intention is always the same: to walk alongside you with compassion, respect, and wholehearted presence. I welcome all experiences, all bodies, and all stories without judgement.
I offer in person and remote prenatal, birth and postpartum doula support. I also offer pregnancy and post natal massage, pregnancy yoga, and birth re-imprinting which supports and helps heal traumatic birth experiences at any point in pregnancy birth or post birth.
