Welcome to my page and thank you for your interest in knowing more!
I am a Moroccan-German homebirth and sovereign birth companion who believes in birth as a rite of passage; I believe that pregnancy and birth is a transformative journey and provides you with the medicine you need on your path. I am gentle, soft-spoken, calm and not directive: I believe you are sovereign over your body, your birth and your life. I am here to witness you, holding a safe and sacred space, and accompany you navigating whatever is arising for you in pregnancy, birth and postnatally. I work with nature based rituals, paying attention to intergenerational presence, the more than human and our intuition.
To prepare physically for your birth, in addition to explaining the physiology of birth and what is needed to ensure the unfolding of physiology, I use body work, breath work, visualisation and massage. I will show you (and your partner) techniques you can use, inspired by the spinning babies ©, fascia therapy, MAP for better birth ©. I am also interested in the power of prenatal bonding for the baby's future health and development, and for the birthing process.
I had the privilege to accompany births in Nairobi, Kenya in 2012 and have since then accompanied home births and hospital ones in Berlin and Devon; I have supported several families in the 40 day post-natal period since 2019 and I also provide closing the bones ceremonies. I gave birth to my two girls, one born in Casablanca, Morocco (2002) and the other in Luxembourg (2006).
I am part of the Radiant Mama group in Totnes and am the co-founder of the Transition Town Mother Roots project. I also currently research the transformative potential of birth for my PhD at the University of Plymouth.
I would love to hear from you! please contact me for a non-binding first chat.
With love and care, Johara
