I have been a Doula for 15 years and am deeply embedded in my local community in the town of Frome. I am the local NCT teacher, Breastfeeding Counsellor, and Maternal Journal facilitator. I also train people to become Doulas—it's an honour to share my life's work!
I have been privileged to witness babies born under the stars, in front of the fire, within the community in birth centres, and in much more medicalised settings. All of these births have taught me so much—mostly that there is no 'right way,' only your way.
I believe birth can be straightforward, but due to the changes I have witnessed over the years, including the heavy medicalisation and management of birth, it does require preparation to "stack the odds in your favour."
By taking responsibility for your birth, you can become informed and knowledgeable about your choices and the options available to you. This involves going inwards, facing fears, hand-picking your birth support, and trusting the ancient process of birth. It might also mean investing in a Doula.
I offer a highly individualised professional Doula service, which includes: 6 antenatal meetings, attendance at your birth, and 6 postnatal meetings.
This model is known as the Continuum Method—the gold standard of Doula-ing!
I am also the creator of the Beaded Birth Line a really unique and tactile way of learning about the stages of labour.
I have trained with all the greats including Ina May Gaskin and Michele Odent, and if you want to see an extensive list of my trainings and qualifications please have a look on my Linkedin
