Well hello!
My name is Katie, and my passion is supporting you with your newborn to help reduce your worry and anxiety that comes in the first hours, days, weeks and months. I don't want you to question everything that's going on and be on Google at 2am fretting about things when I can help you.
My approach as a postnatal doula is a little bit different, as I'm also a Naturopath with a variety of tips and techniques up my sleeve to help you with your baby. My aim is to be able to teach you these as well as help you understand why your newborn behaves in the way that it does, and most importantly, that it's normal! It's just modern society has forgotten that, and expects young babies to behave, well, like grown-ups! And they aren't.
So when you have time with me, as well as giving you a safe space to talk about what you need to - whether it's about the night before, the birth, how the first 24 hours went, something that's niggling you from an antenatal appoitment, the colour of your baby's poo or the fact that you feel so overwhelemed and don't know where to start. I will be there for you for all of this. As well as helping with:-
Breastfeeding Support (I trained with the Breastfeeding Network)
Baby Sleep Support (Level 4 Infant Sleep Training)
Massage and/or Reflexology (Massage was a part of my Naturopathy Degree, and I'm qualified to degree level in Pre and Postnatal Reflexology)
Baby Massage and Reflexology (I have a Diploma in Baby Massage Instruction and have done additional training in Baby Reflexology)
I have trained as a Postnatal Doula with Younique Postnatal.
With the above and more, because I don't just want to list a load of therapies that may or may not be relevant to you; I can truly support you and your baby in the best way for you. What you won't get with me is any form of housework, laundry help, doing the shopping etc. My role is to be with you, helping you with your baby.
And a little bit about me, just to set the scene. I have a daughter and her birth didn't exactly go to plan in January 2022. On paper, as a not straightforward c-section baby, there was a very high potential for her to be really unsettled, fussy, colicky, refluxy, constipated, and more. But she wasn't, and I know hand on heart, it's because of all my newborn knowledge and understanding of what she needed and most importantly, why she did, and going with it. And this is what I want to be able to do for you.
My packages are all on my website and to give you an indication of cost, my hourly rate is £115.
