Wow, thank you for clicking to find out more about me. I have been a doula since 2016 and have been loving every minute of it. I am mom to 5 children and they are my world and a lot of my own experiences led me to becoming a doula. I am so passionate about supporting you to have a fulfilling positive birth experience. What might this positive birth look like? Well my role is to hold the space for you to be able to move, sway, laugh, cry, have quiet or roar, be heard and be informed about your choices regarding your care. Anything goes, and I do this alongside your partner, together we support you to feel empowered when bringing your baby into the world. I support your partner too and there is no stepping on toes - I promise. Together we will get to know each other, as soon as you book me support begins, we can text, chat and email throughout this is really helpful so I can support you with information about your choices. Yes I know I have mentioned that twice – choices - but yes you do have them and they are so important. I don’t make any judgement over the decisions you make, I support you and what you want to do. I work for you. I really would love to hear from you, so please do send me a message and we can have a talk about your needs. As a Birth Doula I have attended births at a variety of hospitals and MLU units across the West Midlands as well as Home Births.
I understand the system and can help you and your partner to navigate what might be some difficult situations, you might feel you have the confidence to deal with but i have head from so many parents when they talk about "Fake Confidence" when it comes to birthing their baby - I don't want you to feel like that, i want to support you in minimising what some women describe as traumatic. I see and hear this in my role with Maternity Neonatal Voices Partnership. Personalising your care is what i support you to access to avoid "conveyor belt care".
I have experience of supporting women and birthing people with
- Natural birth,
- VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Caesarean),
- C-Section
- Instrumental deliveries,
- Previous traumatic experience
- Big baby!
- Water births,
- Induction,
- Gestational Diabetes
- Group B Strep
- Infant Feeding
- Anxiety
I have attended births where women have used
- T.E.N.S - I loan these to women I work with free of charge
- Birth Pool - I loan these to women I work with free of charge for Home birth
- Hypnobirthing and relaxation
- Aromatherapy
- Entonox (gas and air),
- Pethidine
- Epidural
We will always spend time talking about your options and choices - because this is absolutely important right? We will spend time where possible to get to know each other a little more, so we can talk through any questions, anxieties or worries you might have. I will help in anyway I can to support you to feel prepared for this amazing adventure.
Sara said: I would highly recommend Katy's services as a doula and hypnobirthing coach. With Katy's help and guidance my husband and I were able to achieve the birthing experience we hoped for. I was immediately at ease in Katy's presence from the moment we met and always felt able to voice my fears, concerns and desires surrounding the birth of my second child. Not only did she help us achieve a successful birthing experience but she also enabled us to 'let go' and move on from the negative feelings that we had held about our first birthing experience.
Please do contact me if you have any questions about the support I can offer you. I have Enhanced DBS check, full clean driving licence and Insurance. Every Birth Matters Facebook Instagram
