Birth Doula & Postnatal Doula

About Me:

In my life I hold many things dear to my heart. Having three children of my own, now beautiful grown up beings, has led me to explore this role as a doula.  I felt confident, strong and supported throughout the births of my youngest two, which I experienced in our home.  My lovely husband and a sensitive midwife comforted and supported me, enabling both the experiences to be wholesome and empowering, healing the mixed feelings I harboured after the hospital birth of my eldest child at the age of 20.

I welcome peace in my life, I appreciate the Earth we live on and I am grateful for the love and support within my family and my dear friends.

I have previously worked for 15 years as an early years teacher and this work has led me to provide a supportive role for families, encouraging them in their journey and offering information and advice to help empower them as individuals and as a family unit.

I also support mother's through a charity called projectMama who offer support to refugee women and asylum seekers in Bristol.

Doula support:

One thing that has inspired me most in my life is the potential that we hold as women to grow a child, birth a child and provide nutrition for that child.  This natural, wondrous and beautiful thing holds complete awe and wonder for me.

Each woman is unique and every birth will be unique, I will attempt to respond in a way that is supportive so as the pregnancy, birth and postnatal period can be as fulfilling  an experience as possible for all.  As a doula, I would encourage you to make your own decisions, my role will be to help you examine the possibilities you wish to explore.  At times, this experience might be intense and powerful and the profound nature of the natural, physiological journey a woman’s body embarks on is unique and precious.  I feel this is a time that a supportive community is of upmost importance. I believe that a woman should feel that they are being encouraged and supported to follow the path that is unfolding for them, that their voices are being heard and their needs being met.  I believe that parents should be encouraged to trust their instincts, to explore and develop their own parenting philosophies and allow this to be a natural and organic growth.
