Ksenia Serebryanikova

Postnatal Doula

Hello, I’m Ksenia. I’m a birth and postnatal doula based in Chichester. I mainly cover Portsmouth, Chichester, Worthing and Brighton. You may recognize me as I also work for the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust. I do occasionally serve parts of London, providing birth support with a London based Doula colleague, as well as live-in Doula Post Natal support. Please get in touch for details. Working with me allows you to tap into the years of experience and knowledge base, as I serve families in delivering an individualized plan of care supporting pregnancy, recovery and new-born care. It starts with educating expecting families about NHS healthcare in pregnancy and birth. Then follows on to your Birth attendance and support afterwards, working side by side with medical professionals either at home or hospital environment. Postnatal recovery support and new-born care allows me to work intimately with the family until they gain the confidence needed. It is continuity of care in practical, physical and psychological terms.

For the last 14 years I have worked privately with clients like you gaining the necessary experience to support individual families in their decision making around level of medical care in pregnancy and birth across NHS trusts as a proud Doula UK birth worker.  As a doula, I observe the clinical duties and I am no strangers to the intimate nature of physiological and psychological needs a labouring mama and her partner face while becoming parents. Continuity of new-born care taught me further to be a responsive carer to your child’s needs and cues while allowing my expertise and experience to place me confidently to then teach you what you wish to learn as parents in my capacity as a Post Natal Doula and Educator.

In my capacity as a doula, I strive to attain positive work environment while working alongside the NHS service medical team providing the evidence based support. And over the years I have grown up in my skills to be resourceful, responsible and highly professional in my duties such as arranging, assisting and communicating within the birth support team at times of stressful situations during birth dynamics and that liaising is one of my strengths.

Bringing care, compassion and empathy I have worked with dozens of families each ongoing year and have build a reliable reputation among the community. Our relationship is build on trust, knowledge and commitment that my clients seek.

UK had become my second home after arriving in 2006 with my new born son from Moscow. I welcomed my daughter’s birth in 2011 with the support of a doula. With the never ending  focus on my family for the last 20  years, home schooling and studying alternative medicine, Women's Health has always been a field of personal interest.

And to be present at any birth is an ever humbling experience. My role as a Doula in protecting the birthing space and the birth plan of a family is a privilege I cherish with every client. I enjoy getting to know the family I support as well as working alongside and being daily supported by our own great circle of UK Doulas.

LGBT community equally seeks out doula support and we have been able to play our part as the Doula UK Organization in raising awareness of each parents unique preferences and the level of care required. At times LGBT couples report to us being failed to be met with both dignity and understanding of the medical team and we as doulas help bridge that gap. For every client we aim to assist in providing the safe space and environment by being by their side on their journey.

Testimonials

“I met Ksenia when I was 36 weeks pregnant with twins and I was instantly struck by her soft voice and gentle nature, her warm smile, open face and her natural approach to childbirth and motherhood. I am so glad I found her. Once the boys arrived, her confidence with these tiny, fragile babies was so reassuring; she listened to my concerns and responded with knowledge and careful consideration. She is clearly a natural-born mother, not only to babies and children, but to other mothers; I felt listened to, looked after and cared for. I would particularly like to mention her amazing support during my difficulties with breast feeding two babies. I found it incredibly stressful, difficult, painful and emotional. Her wonderful advice on ‘biological nurturing’, her patience and expertise in showing me how to comfortably recline and feed two babies, helped to give me confidence and enabled me to continue breastfeeding, when I was on the verge of giving up. I am truly grateful to her for this. Thank-you Ksenia, for helping me through those challenging, special first weeks of the twins lives, you helped to nurture my own natural mothering instincts, by offering me warmth, wisdom, care and kindness.” Imogen

“Thank you again for being part of our wonderful experience of becoming first time parents. We have really appreciated your overall knowledge, genuine commitment for empowerment and sincere care you have shown us. You have a natural instinct for knowing when it’s appropriate to intervene and support but, equally important, when it’s best to respect the privacy and stay away. This trait, I think, makes you stand out!”  Oana

“I had the most wonderful birth experience with my second daughter thanks to Ksenia. She is intuitive, protective and encouraging: exactly who I needed to enable me to have a good birth. Thank you.” Rachel

“I will definitely have a Doula if I have another baby as nobody of my relatives/friends could provide up to date information about the labour and baby care and nobody could ever give even a half of support I got from Ksenia. I’m not sure that every Doula could help as much as Ksenia did. She’s that type of person you completely believe and trust and it really calms you down and assures you that everything is going to be very good. Honestly, she exceeded my expectations in terms of doula’s role during the labour. I can asses her ability to support my wishes in 150% – she knew that I wanted to even before I realised I need it. Apart from midwifes management, sharing information and protecting my rights she was amazing in calming me down and reducing pain. She was giving massage every time I had contractions, bringing me water when I was thirsty etc. Ksenia spent a night in hospital with me. She was highly appreciated by midwifes of the hospital.” Maria & Alexander “Ksenia was attentive to our expectations & needs and fully supported our birth choices. We met several times before birth when Ksenia answered our questions, shared information and recommended books/articles to read. During labour she came to accompany to the hospital. She helped me with massage and positions ideas to ease contractions and that helped. When medical staff recommended something, Ksenia advised what can be done to stick to the birth plan.” Nina
