Hello! My name is Kseniia. I am originally from Russia, but moved to the UK in 2023. Prior to that for five years I lived in the most beautiful city, St. Petersburg and worked as obstetrics and gynaecology.

I think you may be a little surprised when you read this. How can a doctor be a Doula? Let me explain this to you.

My journey into medicine started in 2013. I graduated from two medical high schools in Russia: Kirov State Medical University, Kirov (2013-2019), where I got my diploma as a general practitioner and Almazov National Medical Research Centre, Saint-Petersburg (2019-2021), which I graduated with diploma as an obstetrician-gynaecologist.

I worked in different hospitals and clinics for five years as a gynaecologist. I loved my job. I am very proud of my profession. Besides, I liked taking care of women’s health and pregnant women, helping women to become mothers and giving them the opportunity to know what happy motherhood is. Unfortunately, I have the licence as a doctor only in Russia, and confirming my diplomas in the UK is a very long and complicated process. For this reason I decided to become a Doula to maintain the ties to my chosen profession and perhaps learn about it from a different perspective. I feel very inspired to continue the work that I have started in Russia in supporting women through their pregnancy, labour and postpartum.

I am a friendly, open and empathic person. My job is to give you confidence, to create a safe, calm and warm space for you, your family and your baby, to help you cope with all difficulties, to be your support, to explain complicated things in an understandable way, because I know the anatomy and physiology of pregnancy, labour and more. During the birth I will be there exclusively for you. My focus will be 100% on you. I will be your friend and your advocate throughout labour. I can provide you with all the information, my knowledge and my experience to enable you to make any decision that is right for you regarding your labour and preparation for it. I will be happy to help you and be a part of something amazing, because I believe childbirth is a miracle!

I am confident that my medical knowledge will be an advantage whilst I will learn and apply new skills as a Doula to take care of you and your family.
