I'm originally from London and currently live in Amersham in Buckinghamshire. I have 2 sons aged 4 and 7 and have been married for 14 years to my amazing husband Russell. I am a Christian and am passionate about helping others.
I have a BA Hons in youth work and community work and my work experience is in youth work, safeguarding children and young people, working in schools and running a coffee shop. I have always been very passionate about working with vulnerable women and children particularly and as part of my background have supported toddlers, children and youth with SEN and physical disabilities.
I have learnt a lot of people skills through my work and lifestyle and love to listen to people share about their lives and support them in any way I can.
Why did I become a postnatal doula?
I had a doula for my first brith which I loved because I believe it made my birth journey a lot smoother than it might have been and more natural as a result. I felt so much more confident having an advocate for me during my birth. I decided to become a postnatal doula because I feel that women need more support than they currently receive after birth and this is a new and can be a vulnerable time for new mums and dads and even those who have had lots of children.
One of my fave things to do is to sit and chat over a good coffee. This is something I would love to do with you and listen to your birth story and help you walk through your postnatal journey with peace and confidence. As women, we are made and designed to give birth and care for children and in this day and age if we don't have a village to help us then having someone to walk alongside is really helpful. I am also very interested in nutrition and how food can benefit our body and our health and wellbeing. So I would absolutely love to make you some delicious meal options and snacks that will support your body's self healing after birth.
How I can support you postnatally:
- Making space for you to shared reflect on your birth and how you're doing after the birth.
- Helping with understanding newborn care
- Supporting with breastfeeding, bottle feeding or combi-feeding
- Practical supporting you with light house work and daily tasks
- Looking after your baby while you sleep or just need a few moments to yourself
- Preparing meals and/or snacks and drinks.
- Signposting you to specialist support, if required, e.g. lactation consultant or women's health physiotherapist, cranial osteopath etc.
- Supporting with siblings
