How will I help you as a postnatal doula?
• I’ll look after your baby whilst you rest
• I’ll make you something to eat and drink so you are nourished and re-energised,
• I’ll support you to breastfeed or bottle feed or both.
• I’ll be there with a cup of tea to listen, chat and reassure you.
• I’ll be there to help you think through parenting options to find a solution that works for you and your family.
• I’ll accompany you out and about and be there to help you whilst you try out public transport with a buggy for the first time.
• I’ll signpost you to various local services for additional support.
• I’ll do light household chores giving you more to rest or spend time together as a family.
• I’ll look after older siblings to give parents time to connect with their new baby. Or I can look after the baby so parents can spend time with their older children.
• Before the birth of your baby I can have a postnatal planning session helping you think about the first few months after the birth and how you can feel as supported as possible with a new baby.
About me
I’m mum to a wonderful little girl and prior to becoming a doula I was an art curator. My own experience of having, and recovering, from postnatal depression has given me a passion to support families in those first overwhelming early months. I love my job and I get so much joy from being able to give parents time to rest, recover and connect with their new baby. I feel very blessed to have had the calling to be a doula and it is such a privilege to be invited into people’s lives to support them after the arrival of their baby.
I was trained by Developing Doulas whose course is accredited by Doula UK. Since qualifying I have also attended Younique Postnatal’s ‘Twins and More’ course, monthly NCT infant feeding workshops, and annual Doula UK conferences. Keeping my knowledge up to date is really important to me.
I’m an NCT Infant Feeding Peer Supporter working at NCT drop-ins offering guidance on all types of feeding including breastfeeding, bottle feeding, mixed feeding and weaning as well as supporting parental wellbeing.
I’m also a Homestart volunteer visiting families with children 0-5 years old who need support.
Client Testimonial
'Laura is a fantastic doula- she is a patient, kind and extremely warm person. Our little boy Fraser loved her from day 1, her help and advice was invaluable and I can’t recommend her enough to all new parents. She made the first intensive weeks and months of parenting easier, nothing was too much trouble for her. She’s extremely passionate about supporting the mother’s mental health at a vulnerable time and I found having Laura there to talk through any worries so reassuring. Her advice and tips with breastfeeding were so useful, it made what can be a difficult journey a smooth and easy learning experience for my baby and I. She fitted seamlessly into our home and helped our new family thrive. We will definitely be engaging her services again if we have another baby in the future! Thank you Laura!'
I offer a free discovery call so you can talk to me to discuss your needs and how I can support you. I look forward to helping you very soon.
