Laura Stocks

Birth Doula & Postnatal Doula

I've been passionately supporting women since 2016, empowering others like you to have the birth and postpartum that they deserve.

Hey! I'm Laura and I've been busy working as a Birth & postnatal Doula since 2016.

I live in a village outside Haslemere, Surrey with my husband Andy and my children Ollie, Ella & Arlo who I gave birth to at Kingston hospital in 2013 and 2015 and at home in January 2018.

Before embarking on having a family I was living in Balham working as a PA and Marketing in radio which was such fun! Then we had many happy years in Walton-on-Thames and in September 2021 we moved to the trees and I couldn't be happier.

My first birth at Kingston was an Induction on the labour ward and my second was a water birth in the birth centre, where I was left alone to do my thing with Andy by my side. Although both insanely wonderful experiences, these made for two very different births! It was after my second birth that I knew I wanted to pursue supporting women to have the birth they want as a Doula. I went on to have my third baby at home, with my Doula by my side, which was just the most empowering experience of my life.

I am an experienced Birth & Postnatal Doula, Doula Mentor, Doula Trainer, Hypnobirthing Practitioner and Birth Trauma worker.

I truly believe birth is more than bringing a baby into the world, it's about YOUR journey through pregnancy, to holding your baby in your arms, to your postnatal mental and physical health.

I want you to have the birth that you want and to feel truly empowered as you begin your mothering journey. I want to help you bring your baby into the world in a way you've always hoped for as I've had first-hand experience of just how empowering that can be. Or I can support you in the postnatal period as you heal and navigate through those first hours, weeks and months.

And if you haven't even thought about what birth or those early postnatal days might look like for you, I'm dedicated to helping you find your way and discover what sits right for you. Just give me a buzz, drop me an email or whatsapp and we can talk about what Doula support might look like for you. I'm a qualified instructor for The Wise Hippo antenatal birthing programme, which is accredited by the Royal College of Midwives.

I'm a firm believer that in anything you do in life, preparation is the key and I can help you to prepare for your birth in a way that only aims to empower you, having your desires and wishes at the epicentre of it all.

I’m an incredibly positive person, which really does help me see the glimmer of light in even the trickiest of situations and it’s this optimism that I’d bring to your birth experience. I am more than aware that sometimes sh*t hits the fan and it’s my promise to you that I would prepare you to the best of my ability to have evidence based learning to know your options if that happens. I’ll be by your side for it all… massaging, relaxing, supporting and physically helping you, whilst offering practical assistance and emotional support for your birth partner if you have one.

Much of the work we do together will be in our antenatal sessions where I can bring my knowledge and experience having worked with many diverse families - empowering you to be the master of your own relaxation, allowing you the ability to make decisions based on what feels right for you, not ones that are driven by fear or coercion.

I will be with you as long as you want me at your birth and then we’ll have postnatal follow ups allowing you to debrief your birth fully - something I am so passionate about - as well as postnatal massage. As a Recognised Birth Doula with experience on the labour ward, birth centre, in theatre, pre-term, water birth, homebirth, twins, induction and VBAC, I bring to you unwavering support for your birth, helping you wade through the flood of information and offering you a constant companion that you have chosen in me.

To be a supportive part of your journey would be an utter privilege. I believe every woman should feel loved, empowered, in control and cherished during her journey to birth and that’s my promise to you.

I believe in your power. I believe in your ability to give birth. I believe in YOU.
