My name is Lesley and I live in Haslemere, Surrey. I am a Recognised Birth Doula and KG hypnobirthing teacher.
Having always wanted to work in the neonatal world, in 2008 I had time to do an Access to Nursing & Health Professions course at Guildford College with a view to becoming a midwife but as my circumstances changed I trained as a Birth Doula in London. I had learned about doulas for the first time in 2010 so after doing some research about what their role is and how they worked, I decided to train as a Birth Doula in 2011. I completed the doula Recognition process in September 2017 and have been a Recognised Birth Doula since then.
I am also an Access Fund Birth Doula.
The ethos of a doula sits very comfortably with my own belief that childbirth is a natural process which, given the right environment, tools and emotional support, many women are able to come through with memories of a primitive and wonderful experience to treasure all their lives. The sense of achievement can be amazing and I feel this should be available to all women.
Being invited onto a couple's journey into parenthood is a privilege and I am able to offer help in the form of practical help, emotional support and non-judgmental up to date signposting during the antenatal, birth and immediate post-natal periods while you adjust to your new addition.
Courses completed:
KG Hypnobirthing course (August 2016, Light Centre, London W1)
Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) course for Birth Practitioners
Michel Odent Study Day 2011 Oxytocin Study Day
Reiki 1: Reiki is a relaxation tool which can be used during the ante-natal period and the birth process and its healing benefits are well-known both spiritually and physically.
KG Hypnobirthing enables you to work with your body and understand what is happening to you and why during pregnancy, labour and birth. A strong sense of empowerment is often felt during the birth process and for many women the result is that pain relief can be kept to a minimum, if at all.
Birthing Biomechanics: During pregnancy and in childbirth, changing your position and using specific techniques can create movement in the pelvis and encourage your baby into the best position.
I have a current enhanced DBS
